  1. After 3 or 4 months of driving a tin can I finally got sick of it and stayed up until 1 on a work night finishing the interior. More damplifier pro and luxury liner pro was placed wherever I could fit it and all I can say is holy crap I didn't think the car could be this quiet. I can't wait to do the doors as I'm now distinctly aware of the noise coming through them. I'll also use this as an opportunity to introduce my carputer. I've wanted to do this since I first bought the car, but in 2014 the technology didn't exist to do it well. Now it does! I had tossed around the idea of relocating the clock to the ash tray but I use mine as a coin holder so I decided to find a way to make it work. I found a GPS in an 06 Outback 3.0R at my local pick N pull, gutted it, reassembled the housing, and then trimmed it to fit inside the dash and around the cubby. Then I cut a small piece of ABS plastic to act as a backplate and permanently attached a wall mount for a tablet to it. It's not pretty, but once you block it with the tablet you can't see my handiwork with the dremel. I removed the cubby and ran screws in to the vents to reattach them to the cubby housing. It was tough to get everything back in there but I was able to make it fit. Unfortunately I cracked the cubby housing so the next time it comes out will likely be in pieces. The tablet is just a basic Lenovo M9. I turn on my phone's hotspot and use it for Waze and Google maps. It charges via the USB port on the back of my head unit. Some might find it obnoxious but I like having the dedicated Waze machine. My phone usually stays in my pocket which removes the distraction.
  2. What were your complaints about the DMFW, even though you didn't have one? I've never had one but I've always been curious to try one out.
  3. I'll be keeping mine for as long as possible. I've owned multiple newer-ish vehicles and here we are in 2024 and it's back to being my only vehicle new cars are a terrible investment, it actually makes more sense financially to keep the Legacy on the road. We are very fortunate to be a part of a larger enthusiast community. Even though the LGT is relatively niche the cross compatibility of many parts is a huge advantage. My coworker complained to me that he can't get parts readily for his Focus RS. I don't have that problem (yet). I figure I've got about 10 years before parts start to become scarce. At that point the ICE will be approaching its last days and alternative fuel sources will be the only option. Personally I see a market in the future for electric or hydrogen conversions. They already exist ofc but a move toward mainstream for car enthusiasts sounds plausible to me. That's another reason why I haven't purchased a newer vehicle with an ICE. Alternative fuels aren't there yet so I'm stuck between spending 50k on either an obsolete technology or an experimental technology. I'll leave that to the average consumer and stick with my shitboxes for now. I do want to purchase either a Suburban or NV2500 at some point but they'll be at least 10 years old and over 100k miles.
  4. Bump - I moved with them and now they live in my new house. Somebody lowball me please!
  5. It is pretty out there for sure. I've spent very little time in Bellingham, just to visit family. Being a WA native though the climate is all that I've known.
  6. Yep mine does the same thing, I'm a psychopath and keep it on level 6 and occasionally I'll get ill.6 flashing on and off. I just flick the wheel up and down a few times and it goes away. This last time I tried to position the wheel as close to the center of the switch as I could get it. I haven't had the issue in a month or so.
  7. I hit the big 150. It's funny, when I hit 140 in 2017 my car was on the higher mileage side compared to most. Now I see ya'll with 200k, 250 or even 300. My car is now a low mileage vehicle. I haven't done jack on the wagon in the last week, too busy with work and dealing with family stuff. I did have to pack up and take off to Bellingham Tuesday night on a moment's notice to visit a family member in the hospital. It felt good to know that I could trust the car to take a surprise 540 mile trip in an emergency. I hadn't taken it outside of the Portland metro area in 5 or 6 years. This weekend's goal is to have the interior put back in. My new garage is filled with crap, but I'm hoping I can get it organized enough to put the car inside.
  8. I even tried flipping the picture upside down and then uploading but it did nothing. I guess everyone will just have to turn their heads upside down. Edit I fixed it lol
  9. My turn... My custom mufflers have finally been installed! They're loud but also subtle. I actually hated the look of them at first but it grew on me once I took my hitch off and learned to appreciate the offset tips. I think I'm going to end up adding a resonator, as much as I wanted to avoid cutting in to my Cobb exhaust I think it's just a little too droney for me. I'll decide for sure when I get the rest of the interior installed. Edit: I have no clue why they uploaded sideways/upside down Edit 2: took screenshots of my gallery app and that fixed it
  10. I've towed with my wagon many times over the years and never had an issue. I've never really had a need for a truck so having the option to pick up a $19 uhaul trailer to move a couch or a new tool box has worked just fine for me. With lighter loads (<500lbs) I hardly notice a drop in mileage. However the image I just posted was *well* over the 2000lb limit and probably approaching the 3500lb limit of my hitch. It was a short drive and I only exceeded 40mph on the stretch of i5 from the interstate bridge to downtown Portland. After that I took it slow and rode Burnside to Barnes until I made it home. At 50mph I had to stay in 3rd if there was the slightest incline lol. I drove the car with a ~2500lb load from Vancouver to LA and back without issue, through an ice storm on the initial trip. It didn't like that either and got 12mpg the whole way. But, nothing broke! The funny thing about the sound deadening is that it is SIGNIFICANTLY quieter from down below - I know this because I became distinctly aware of noise from my roof rack and what was escaping in through the hole where my back seat goes. I think once I add some more in the rear and get the seat in it'll be super quiet. It definitely helped a ton with vibrations. I uber'd with my Legacy in 2015-16 when I was a broke 22 year old who thought he had turbo Subaru money but didn't. I just never took the sticker off because it's funny at this point. The car wouldn't qualify to be used as an Uber, it's too old. That's also the old school Uber logo that they don't use anymore.
  11. Haven't posted in a bit as I've been moving and the car was temporarily turned in to a uhaul. I finished getting the sound deadening and insulation installed up front and got the carpet reinstalled. Shockingly it fit perfectly even though there's 1/2" of new foam underneath it. It also looks brand new since I pressure washed and air dried it for a week. The last picture was my garage load with all my tools. I would have loved to put it on a scale. Then again, I probably would have felt even worse about the abuse.
  12. They are probably not flapping very well anymore. I found that two of the flaps were stuck together. When I peeled them apart I found brand new rubber on those surfaces so I'm thinking it's been like that since the car was new. Everything under my trunk's trim pieces was covered in dirt so I'm blaming my aging flaps. True, but I'm not a fan of my ears popping when I close the door. I'm also not a fan of those kinds of fixes. I'd rather take the time to do it right. I should probably buy another set of these to have on hand since they'll probably cease production soon enough.
  13. I'm happy to report that after 5 days of sitting my car fired right up today. No more battery drain for this guy. Today was flappy vent install day (I've decided flappy vent is a much better term than quarter panel vent). I had hoped to get away with popping the corners of the rear bumper cover and fishing them out and in. I was able to get the old ones out this way, but couldn't get the leverage on the new one to clip it in. So the cover had to come off. I'm glad I did though because I learned that there are in fact drains back there. I got those out, cleaned them, and then half ass cleaned the quarter panels since it was 11pm and very cold. After that I popped in the new flappy vents and put everything back together. Now I just need to run the 4 gauge for the 2nd battery and the trunk can be reassembled. It appears that water is seeping ever slightly through the foam gaskets on the rear bumper cover and through a few of the grommets back there. I removed and cleaned the big grommets as a bandaid fix for now. I'll have to go back in at some point with a bunch of new rubber pieces on hand. I'm not too stressed about this though as the major culprit has been removed.
  14. You are correct, that was my JDM badge swap. However it didn't fit quite right since I only had USDM double sided tape. So I had to go back to my USDM badge for now.
