  1. I am using an Android phone. Audio comes thru the cable just fine including call audio. But of course I have to use the phone's mic. The android phone is smart enough to know what is plugged in does not have a mic and does the right thing. I have not tried with an iphone.
  2. Fishbone: just buy the right cable. It won't be worth the soldering trouble, and it'll have the right strain relief molded in to the cable.
  3. In case I haven't stated this before: this kit is THE BEST!!! Sound quality is perfect, install is easy, no 80 min blank CD (I had the other aux-in for a while) and it just works. You don't even have to keep your radio in CD mode: flip it on and sound comes out, radio or CD mode. Auto-switching works awesome. Only problem I had with it: using it as my hands-free for my cell if I am talking too long and the other person is listening and not making noise it'll switch off, which means the radio comes back on while I am talking. So I put it in "always on" mode and its perfect. My CD player in my Subaru is totally dead. The usual cd changer jam that seems to happen to these after a few years (of playing the same blank CD all the time...) and this still works perfectly. So GET IT! If it fits your car, get it. The difference in price is negligible compared to how well it works. Its less than 2 tanks of gas here in CA.
  4. I am selling my Jazzy board and ribbon cable. No cables. Its 100% working. My CD player died as did my spare cd player. So I went another way. I've had it installed since I got the car in 2006 and its been solid. $35 including shipping in the US. PM me
  5. I sent this to Leptronix directly but wanted to post here as well: Here is my issue: after playing the blank CD for 5 years my cd player died on me. Seems the gears got out of sync somehow and it jammed up. I removed it and the stereo still plays just fine. Would I need some kind of CD player installed for this to work or could I use your board with no CD player installed at all? If it requires the CD player there could I just put my broken one back in there?
  6. BagheeraLGT: it isn't a "blank" cd you need to put in, its the 80 minute silent cd. This is a CD that has a single track on it that is silence. I'm sure somewhere in this thread it says how to make one...
  7. This was working in my car for a long time. Since '06 I believe. Now my CD player has quit on me. The car doesn't recognize there is any CD in there but the blank CD is in slot 2. When I do an "all eject" the radio thinks about it for a while, makes a little noise and stops. The CD does not pop out. When I press eject again it does nothing. I pulled the battery connections to try to reset the radio but it didn't help. It also won't load any new CD's. Its almost like the radio forgets the cd player is attached. Any suggestions? Do I need to pull the radio out and get the blank CD out manually?
  8. I installed mine today. I have to say I was sweating hard. My 'ru has less than 400 miles on it and I'm tearing it apart. But I can't stand being without my iPod and XM so it had to be done. I have a 2006 Outback 2.5 XT It was a 3 hr install. I took my time and also ran into a bit of problem. On the first run through it didn't work. The CD loaded but wouldn't read. It would try a few times and switch back to FM. Not sure what the problem was but in the dark I took the radio back out, took it back apart, rechecked everything and reinstalled. Not sure what the problem was exactly but I think the ribbon cables didn't seat right. So far, so good now. My tips: 1. Do it parked on a level surface: you need to take the auto trans in and out of gear a few times to get the radio in and out. Its less stressful if you aren't worried about your car rolling away 2. Leave yourself plenty of daylight or work in a well lit garage. I heard of people doing it in an hr but leave yourself more time. This is hard enough without having to work by braille. 3. Craftsman #1 and #2 phillips or BETTER QUALITY. The right screwdriver makes SO MUCH of a difference. Buy good tools and they last forever. 4. Keep good track of which screws came out of where. It seems obvious when you are taking them out but so much less when putting them in. Either baggie the screws or take a piece of paper, put the hardware in circles on the paper and write what they are for. Props to Jazzy and all the cool, helpful and patient people here!
