  1. I tether my Dell Streak 7 to my rooted GS3. Sprint network and 4GLTE in the Northwest Chicago 'burbs, so unlimited high speed.
  2. I mounted a desktop dock on two pieces of all-thread with inverted wing nuts into slight depressions (from a dremmel) I secured the back of the threaded rods to holes in the top rear of the cubby to get the correct angle. I pushed the rods through the holes such that the back of the tablet lined up just forward of the bottom of the cubby door. I put soft velcro on the door and the stiff stuff on the tablet. The soft velco lays on top of the connector of the desktop dock. The power goes to the stock car power adapter for the streak which plugs into a vampire tapped 12v outlet behind the ash tray. The headphone goes to a ground loop isolator under the radio, then into the jazzy mt mod.
  3. Thanks, Ill be here all decade... ...On account of the recent significant investment in Engine number 3
  4. http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/xx347/CDubbs684/2011-02-02085020.jpg The name comes from a former fellow bomb loader who thought irony is funny, calling a computer nerd a name that was rapper-esque. Word to your moms, I came to load bombs. I drop more primer cartidges than the bible's got psalms.
  5. I could use that lag. Sort of like the cooling-off period for buying a handgun. Where is that throttle rescaling mod vendor?!?
  6. Lighter is better without a doubt but I still affirm that Slim Fast Shakes are the cheapest weight reduction mod.

I went with a cheap Lilliput 7" to start with just to see if I wanted to "commit". While it is quite usable in most situations, if the sun is at my back and low in the sky, it's pretty much useless. I would not buy another screen for car installation unless it were transflective, but I am not in a hurry to replace the one I have. If I were moving from Chicago back to Arizona, SoCal, Vegas etc I would probably replace it then. Not sure if that helps

You are absolutely correct on this, however if you don't attempt to push beyond the native resolution (IE mirroring display with a built in panel) you *should* be ok. Video over usb 2.0 is a bit of a struggle because of the nature of a serial connection. Basically each device gets a "turn" at using the bus, and afaik there is no throttling for each device. This means adding any [active] device to the usb bus results in another division of available cycles, reducing the total number of cycles per second allowed to each device. Has anyone seen 2D FPS benchmarks of this unit?
  9. Just a quick note on my experience, Jazzy sent me the ckt board promptly with everything stated he would include in the latest installment. This is no surprise. Just wanted to relate the issues I had. (Forgive me if this is already done but between work and night school I cant make it through 28 pages...) 1) When I affixed the board to the bottom of my changer, I pressed it into place using a nonconductive shim (read butterknife wrapped in electrical tape). In the process I bent two of the resistors to short off one another, beware of that if youre stupid enough to push on electrics blindly with a butterknife... Like me. 2) When inverting your cd player, cds can migrate loose of their track. If this happens when you plug your reassembled unit back in, it will be unable to count the discs and will not enable the cd player. Hitting the CDin gives you nothing and the disc positions dont light up on the head unit. A little panic followed by a smoke, followed by taking it back apart, I pushed the errant disc back on track. Next I powered up the unit and ejected all the discs. I recommend doing this with all the discs out. 3) I used a radio shack male stereo to twin female stereo splitter and 2 6' male to male patch cords because I already had them lying around. The result is the volume needs to be turned up a bit but still sounds amazingly clear at 30+ on the volume scale with my RioForgeSport set to 25. Anyway, all errors were due to my own blundering and another +1 for excellent instructions. Thanks a ton Jazzy!
