  1. Hi all, My 2017 Legacy is approaching 107k miles and still going strong, but I'm beginning to experience some issues with the cruise/eyesight control cluster on the steering wheel. Sometimes the speed up/speed down button doesn't work when in cruise. Sometimes I hit speed down and it's engaged the lane assist. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what's the fix? A shot of compressed air? Contact cleaners? Replacement? Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

  4. True, but with my health and at my age I have neither the time nor inclination to do the maintenance work myself. Not everyone on this forum is a wrench monkey.

  6. I'd agree. It sounds more like SubieGuy21 was inching over to the right when a car approached, triggering the lane alert.
  7. All I can offer is anecdotal evidence: I have a '17 Legacy 2.5i Limited with over 63K miles and no discernable problems. I service the car as it should be, when it should be. (I'll admit that 60K service was a shock to the wallet, though! If there's something that keeps me away from another Subie, it'll be maintenance costs.) Watching the intro vids and photos, I noticed a couple more minor details: 1) Goodbye Goodyears, hello Yokohamas = yay! 2) Goodbye trunk struts, hello trunk hinges = meh. 3) Lane Keep Assist that might actually work = yay.   9. Another vote against body side moldings, although I did manage to score a door ding about a month into ownership. That being said, the ding isn't nearly as noticeably unsightly as the moldings, so c'est la vie. Can't opine on the spoiler since I have yet to see one in the flesh. I generally don't go for them on midsize sedans, though - sometimes it looks like "Dad-wished-he'd-gotten-a-WRX-but-settled-on-this." If you want to drop some cash on your car, I think the two best upgrades would be the JDM black grill (although these might not give as much "ooomph" in looks when compared to your '18 - I drive a '17 where the grill can really help) and an STI rear sway bar.

From CNET.com: "Updates for the 2018 model include doors that lock at speed, new acoustic side glass, insulated rear wheel wells and individual tire pressure monitoring." ...not to mention mods to the CVT to make it quieter. I had also read that they had redesigned the side mirror housings to improve airflow and reduce noise.
  11. If anything, eyeSight has made me a better driver. I certainly pay a lot more attention to staying in my lane if only to keep the warning from beeping. Blind sight monitoring has saved my bacon a time or two (and, to those drivers in your blind spot, you don't give them the heebie jeebies by starting to pull over in their lane). Lane Keep Assist (gently bumping you back into the lane) is mostly useless unless you're on a long straightaway - it can't handle even a gentle curve. When we bought the car, our salesperson admitted that it wasn't as effective as they would like and recommended not using it. My hopes for the '18 are for improved sound reduction. My Subie is quiet at around-town speeds but the wind and tire noise increase significantly on the highway. I'm kind of hoping the new acoustic glass front windows will fit in my '17 - that'd be an upgrade worthy of the cost if it can drop dBs down a couple of points.
  12. Only 5K miles on the car; I expect to have the first service (6K miles) done later this month. I check the oil weekly and always in my level garage - it hasn't dropped a smidge as far as I can tell.
