Bought and installed new front rotors today. The one was only under minimum spec by .006 ....I have to switch provincial insurance, and therefore need a saftey inspection pass to do so. That was the only thing she failed on:) Pleaidestar: get the OE head gaskets. Cheap out on the others if you want, they are a lot easier to replace if they fail!

Fianlly all done today, and back on the road! Woot! Purrs like a cat again Gained heaps of valuable experience, several excellent new tools, and hopefully a lot of maintenance-free driving in regards to my cooling system and head gaskets! Tomorrow... No, I meant what I said. A good quality straight edge and some tool makers feeler gauges do the trick. You're allowed .002 runout max on spec. I just chose to do it anyway even with the .0005 to spare.

Needs machining. Well, truly no. But it was .0015 out on the runout, so I decided to play it safe for the long run and get it done. Back fresh and clean tomorrow and I can start reassembling everything. Cant wait!

3 bolts remain until I can get my head gasket off.. need to pick up a 12 pt socket tomorrow to get it done... holy shiz, this is an epic job, Im learning heaps! Hope to be done in under 2 days provided the head doesnt need machining

Looks awesome... but for Canadians the program isn't available. Subaru Canada has been claiming to be working on it...for the last 2 years... still nothing. We need a US address to ship to. Any volunteer addresses? -james

In the last few days it's been the thermostat, water pump and timing belt. It only took 2 tries to get the timing right . Water pump was straight forward first try. T-Stat.... omg what a headache... I couldn't get it to seal... the o-ring is impossible to keep in place in the upper housing (with the T stat) while trying to push the lower housing up into place! Not to mention the first one was non OEM... so I got another... probably 8 tries in total to get the 2 good seals.! In the end I used some gasket goo to set the o-ring and thermostat on the lower housing and carefully put it up into place. eek. Hope I don't have to do that again for a loooong time! -james
