  1. Wow, never seen these pics before. I know you said not to, but I must...HAHAHA, how the F did your ass get so fat??? Thanks to all who took or hosted these, they're up there with the best ones I've ever seen!
  2. Ok, so I have rebuilt, swapped and fixed engines, restored a car, even been to racing school. I like to think I know cars pretty well. That being said, I'm a total NOOOOB when it comes to suspensions and suspension upgrages....which leads me to 2 questions. 1. These end links I keep reading about on the forum - WHAT DO THEY DO?!?! and are they necessary to upgrade with my swaybars (that better hurry up and get here). 2. I know you said they're essentially the same thing, but what is the REAL difference between shocks and struts? Also, are dampers something slightly different or is that really just another word for one of the above? Oh, and awesome post, even though I'm about 2 years behind.....
  3. FWIW, I use my ipod on it. I was in your shoes too (didn't want to wait for crutchfield to ship the GLI) so i just did it without one. I've found that the GL humm isn't really that noticable. I mean, if you try to hear it you can, but its not too bothersome. That being said, if you need to have your satellite radio/whatever else connected to power at all times, I would probably wait for the GLI.
  4. Well, after a quick trip to radioshack and buying the CORRECT wire, everything is back together. It sounds GREAT jazzy, thanks again, I am VERY satisfied.
  5. Yup, its official, i'm a dumbass. After saying to myself, "Oh, theres no way I messed up, no need to check things before I put the interior back together", I find that I bought the wrong effing cable. FM, AM, and CD work, just no iPod. I'll be at radio shack when they open then I get to do the install all over again.
  6. Just opened the package. Aux-in install starts in 3... 2... 1...
  7. oh yea, the heat gun took WAAAAAAAAAAAY too long and all I ended up doing was bending the plastic. The oven worked great at 280 for 8 mins...altho I had to muscle it apart.
  8. Well, my first mod is complete. Everything is back together and looks good, but we will see. For what it's worth, I reheated the old sealer in the oven before reassembling the lights AND added new silicone. I will post pics (black sedan) when I get a digital camera for christmas...hopefully. One thing to note for those who are about to attempt this: There are clips on top of the bumper just behind the headlight bucket. You have to press down on the top of the bumper (i believe) and more or less wiggle it off. I don't remember reading this in the write-up and it took me a while to figure out why the darn thing wasn't coming off.
  9. btw, wish me luck with my first mod....second one comes when i get the aux-in chip from jazzy for Christmas (what a great little sister)
  10. I see some people are re-sealing the headlights with the silicone sealer and others just reheat the original glue. How has the latter worked for you guys and does anyone think that it's a bad idea. I really wouldnt want to redo this because of foggy headlights. I intend to do this mod tomorrow using the silicone sealer (because I'm too impatient to wait for responses) but what do you think?
  11. If this was already mentioned or asked in this thread sorry. I don't have time to read the whole thing since I'm on my way to the folks' house. Anyway, is there a way to get pure outside air flowing in? Even when the system is in "manual mode" and set at the lowest temp, I still get warm air blowing in. It reminds me of my friends stupid Mustang GT where you ALWAYS get heat...even in the summer or when you have the fan turned off.
  12. Just found this thread tonight and WOW jazzy! I am very impressed. I will require one of those kits please (now I just need to set up a dang paypal account...tomorrow morning). 2 questions though: 1. I'm curious, how many satisfied customers do you have up to now? 2. Do you still project the price of the gen. 2 to be around 250? I know that I would gladly pay 100 to get rid of the cd thing, but 250, that's a bit steep
