  1. The only thing you have to do is run the harness to the front. Connect the two video lines to the hu and the power wire to the hu. Pickup the ground in the trunk and your done. There is NO splicing that way. You are only adding to the stock connector.
  2. That's what I thought! But I keyed them in the right way. pulled the tab lock and they would only make it 3/4 of the way. I tried finishing them with a pick and that wasn't happening.
  3. Wait!!!!! I bought these from Mouser Part# 571-1123343-1. These are NOT the right connector for the socket. I thought they were. I crimped them all and tried fitting them in. They are too tall. Im thinking that they are Part# 1674311-1 because these are a little smaller. I ordered them, just havent seen them yet. Ill let you know what I find out. JP
  4. This has been talked about a few times before... I can't remember where though. That connector turned out to be for the taillights in the spoiler I think.
  5. maybe thats the difference... I have a 2012 Legacy Limited w/sunroof, but NON-GT. Perhaps the harness was included in all of the GT's... Kinda funny considering the 2012's had the video option run to the rearview. Maybe it was planned differently for the gt's, and they preran a different harness to the HU.... In either case refer back to the 1st post from SVXdc. Pin 8 connects to pin 12 (or ground) to enable the camera screen. That should immediately let you see the backup screen if you put the car in reverse with the car on refer to this writeup for some pictures (NOT WIRING INFORMATION) http://johnboice.com/bkupcam/ Pin 11 is 6vdc power for the camera (red lead hanging off the rydeen Miny video connector) RW3-3B in picture Pin 13 is the camera ground/shield (the ring of the RCA style video connector) RW3-3A in picture Pin 14 is the positive camera lead (the tip of the RCA style video connector) RW3-3A in picture For everyone with the harnesses prewired in the trunk, you could just connect these leads right there!
  6. That's so strange. I too have a 2012 model and it does not have the wires in the connectors or run to the back. I heard some early conversations about sunroof vs no sunroof and that the wiring harness may differ. I did have a sunroof 2012 with no wires prerun. P.s. when I did the ground loop... pin 12 was grounded internally so I wired a loop from 12 to 8 at the head unit. I am still sourcing the pins. Unless someone knows what they are and can help. I know they are te connectivity pins, but the two that I have ordered haven't been exactly perfect. Maybe svxdc can help...
  7. That's spot on. The camera is a harness with 3 of the connections.... an rca connector for the video. (I just used an old rca female I had so that I didn't have to cut the harness.). The other 2 wires are the jumper... pin 8 to 12 if I remember. Its just a wire loop. This brings one of the pins to ground to enable the camera. The rest is easy. I used a rydeen miny camera. They are all over eBay and shouldnt cost more than $55
  8. Jeffers, Once I get unlazy. I can quick write something up. The camera of choice is the Rydeen Miny. I got a GCOM (Same company, longer warranty) This camera operates of 3.3vdc by means of a regulator, so the 6vdc output from the headunit is perfect for it. I drilled one hole in the trunklid for the wire (+/- 1/4") painted the bare metal with nailpolish and ran a grommet through. I then routed the wires through the trunk, down through the passenger side behind all the kick trim. Routed behind the glovebox, and to the stereo. It was a small jumper wire (to ground the input) a video + and common, and a 6vdc wire. I am waiting on the right connector pins, once I have those, I will let you know. I sourced them out last week, i am just waiting for them.
  9. Digging up an old thread. I thought I would get everyone up to speed on my Rear Camera install. I purchased a Rydeen Miny Camera and a PE658U1. I made a harness for the power wires and rca connector using the factory pins. I installed the factory style pins into the factory connector 8,11-14. Ran the wire to the passenger side and through the floor to the back. I ran it through the trunk grommet and into the trunk. I cutout the plastic where the factory camera goes with a dremel tool. I mounted the camera at the factory location and fired it up. Everything works perfectly! I THEN Hooked up my PE627U1 Stereo for giggles to see if that would work. I can 100% confirm that IT DOES in fact work with the camera. Looks great and only took me about 2 hours from start to finish. What an easy install. I am a little bummed that I bought the PE658 because I really dont need it. If anyone has a stock stereo and wants to upgrade to a 4.3" with camera capabilities, I have one for sale. I will try to do an informal writeup in the next few days with some pictures. P.S. The camera cost me $40.00 on Ebay new, anyone with a 4.3" without a camera can do this mod for no more than $50, and make it well worth it.
