  1. Just power read through this whole thread, so excited and you're making such quick progress! Can't wait to see it when it's all together, thank you so much for doing this. It's on my list now! In the future, having this Sti tranny + built motor with either rotated setup or bigger stock location turbo....gunna be a hell of a car
  2. This was an awesome read through, appreciate it! Can't wait to give this a shot down the line! Pretty much taken the top half of the motor apart, this will be my next goal to accomplish.. Alot less intimidating than I was originally thinking haha.
  3. Currently having the Southbend stage 3 endurance put on, hopefully get her back today sometime. The warehouse that my shop used as a 3rd party sup. sent the wrong clutch out (fjk1000 vs fjk1001) where it was pretty obvious that things wouldn't work (TOB is different, clutch was to big for fw, and pressure plate didn't bolt up to flywheel). Got in touch with John at Southbend and although I resolved the issue without having to go through him, he was a pleasure to talk to on the phone, giving me advice on what I should do to fix the situation and offering to do whatever he could, so +1 to them.
  4. Anytime bro! and lmao that's the best compliment I love it hahaha We do plan on strapping a couple gopros on the outside and going for a legitimate rip and have Gio explain the mod list in more detail as I forgot alot since it was spur of the moment type deal haha. Once we both have time we'll make it happen :]
  5. Yeah I sent them an email along with a few others on here a while back and I never got a response which kind of sucks. Not gunna keep beating the dead horse but if you do decide to install this and are around the New England area, you're more than likely going to overboost with their full exhaust. I can't go WOT at all with this colder weather, not even full throttle I was creeping around 23.5 which is a pound over target, and I've seen a spike as high as 24.6 not WOT. So I' just take it easy now, not worth possibly having a huge spike in boost and heads separating from the block haha Since my tuning experience in then end of April through June, the overboost issues of this downpipe had me paying close to 2k after all the tuning and tech time it takes to drop the headers/turbo, try something, rinse and repeat and it's definitely a pain to take on and off multiple times. At this point, I'm just really banking on getting a custom header made with a t4 flange and just getting a downpipe that'll mate up to whatever turbo I go with and the rest of my nameless exhaust and call it a day.
  6. I'll have to give this thing a shot when I have time maybe this weekend. But my numbers were ~295awhp, and 407awtrq on a mustang dyno, CT sea level, target set to 22.5psi (this is back on the stock turbo, had a 20g but crack in the housing, etc.) Mods: Full nameless 3" TBE, stock chargepipe/headers, Turbosmart bpv full recirc, Grimspeed ebcs, full intake set up with 15wrx silicone hoses and cobb sf intake, AVO tmic, perrin tbc, ID1000cc injectors, dw65c pump, tgv deletes..think that's pretty much it for the most part. I also don't launch the car, though when I get a new clutch I think I'll give it a try in the spring just to see haha. Over the winter depending on funds, I'll be having headers with a t4 flange, a fmic, and chargepipe probably made and probably go flexfuel. If I work out some deals with a shop I'll build the stock block and heads in addition to the other stuff, should make some solid power after :]
  7. Yeah I've been pretty much just not going full wot in 4th, I seem to be okay going wot (or pretty close to) in first through third, but like I mentioned a while ago, If I get into it hard in 4th I'll creep up to 23.5 range. My target is set to 22.5 and my tuner said a while back he was having to drop the wgdc down to about 0 around 3500rpm (or something close to that) because thats when the car would slightly overboost, and I think the max wgdc I see is around 55.. Before when he was starting to tune before tinkering with the wg etc. it would be hitting like 25psi+/- around 3500-4k which would be sweet if I had a built motor and or atleast arp headstuds haha So far in the past month I have slightly overboosted to 23psi flat a couple times, but it was cooler outside on those days. When I've ripped it on a very hot day I havent hit target but usually I'll peak around 20.5psi. I haven't really been in contact with my tuner to much since WBM since I decided that I can't really afford to have them play around with adjusting the actuator, putting everything back together, tuning, and possibly having to rinse and repeat that cycle. Had to go through that when initially tuning and the bill was quite high. I still need to pick up the junk 20g so when I get up there I will still try to get him to do a little write up of what he saw and what his plan would be to correct the issue. For now, I'm just hoping the Cobb flexfuel can be an option to run for next spring and I can mess with the actuator or something when she's up on stands for the winter.. Or go with Jackal's route with a custom header and ewg..though I would probably have it plumbed back in because even though the downpipe is creating issues, the whole nameless TBE sounds insane
  8. Glad you ended up trying this out! I was actually going to see if my buddy would let me test fit his PW verticooler for his 16wrx and see how off the charge pipe would be. It looks great, improvements seem to be pretty solid too!
  9. Went through the TacoBell drive through a couple days ago to grab something quick before a meeting and the drive through guy was like Yo thats sick! Free drink on me! He hooked me up with a baja blast I was like shit thank you man haha Also got an alignment yesterday from townfair, was nice to get it aligned better than it was but they still botched the specs I wanted, as I went to start it up a couple employees from the back came out and said they've never seen one like this before, liked it etc. Was a good couple of days haha
  10. Driving back home from work yesterday was just cruising, got on it a little bit to hear sweet intake/bpv/ebcs noises and ofcourse exhaust note I saw this yellow car about 4-5 cars back but didn't think much of it cause I couldn't tell what it was. End up pulling up to a stop light and it turns out to be an immaculate Evo9, he rolls up really slow, whole upper body out of the car and ends up stalling right next to me haha We chatted for a few seconds and said he's never seen anything like it before and it sounds great, I said thanks and his car was sick too. Started back up, gave eachother some revs and continued back home. I love driving the leggy around haha :]
  11. I believe so, we just talked about so much in little time that just because how I am, I can't remember everything right away haha. Yeah I'll be trying to get him to write something up, and I'll post it for him on here. Yeah can't wait to see everyone at wicked, He actually invited me to show for his shop at WBM so naturally I said yes haha so that's going to be pretty cool for me, never done anything like that before so definitely come say whats good, and I'll bump that WBM thread from the dead to try and get another meet up to happen after if anyone is down :]
  12. Showed my Tuner that when I was up there to pick up the leggy today :] I'm going to try and have him right a short little excerpt of his opinions on the tuning process, design etc. He's just really busy right now so I don't have any set timeline for when he can write something but I'll make sure I get something eventually. He was not a fan of how the design was implemented at all, but I'll leave it at that until I can get him to do a write up on the experience. So the car is "done" but still has a slight overboost issue (can be weather, gear, etc. dependent) On a hot humid day like it is today in CT, I probably won't run into any issues, but on a colder day with less humidity= denser air which raises the likely hood of overboosting, So I can go WOT but I'm gunna take it easy until we try a solution he was thinking of to solve the overboost issue: In a nut shell, loosening the WG actuator spring. I'm not gunna go super into detail because honestly I don't want to say anything wrong or misleading, but thats essentially what we talked about doing. Lower spring press should solve overboosting by not letting it boost as high...then he can go in the tune and revise it and finalize it. Again sorry that it's going to be dissapointing but I really don't want to just fake words. When he was walking me through I understood what he was saying but I don't think I can properly put it into words if that makes sense, but cutting that piece off the downpipe seemed to have solved the actuator hitting and not being able to open fully so thats good, and took care of the huge spikes to 25/26 I was seeing. So on a mustang dyno, I made I believe 294whp, didn't pick up much over all due to running out of octane and the small turbo, and toilet cams, so I'm planning on getting flexfuel whenever that happens. But she made huge torque, 407wtrq. Damn rocket now and I haven't really banged through any gears, just short pulls. Intake sounds good, exhaust is suppppeeer loud which I love (muffler deletes from nameless) but just a warning for anyone else who was looking at getting the full almost straightpipe set up. I'll be getting some videos eventually :]
  13. I may not be able to have a picture of the inside of the DP and where they cut, but when I go to hopefully pick the car up, I'll show them a picture of the lip part from a picture in this thread to confirm that's all they did. It would be a different story if I had the car and was taking everything off again myself but it's still at the shop. I'll confirm (if the car is good to go) that the overboost issues he encountered was due to the flapper hitting the inside lip of the DP and that they only cut that lip piece off to solve the issue, if they did anything else I'll get the details from them. And that was exactly what I was trying to say GT, rather go in with sources to back up a claim rather than rely on emotions which probably won't get us anywhere any quicker.
  14. I think we're kind of waiting for the final results to come in for the people who have installed and had issues. Fahr Side has also brought up some pretty great info as always (small housings harder to control boost, porting common solution, etc.). I think it would be the smarter decision to wait and get the outstanding issues solved and then compile the information, then draw up and email. Probably not a great idea to have an email filled with lots of frustration/emotion without having as much evidence as we can, plus I think GTeaser will be heading the action regarding emailing/contacting nameless so we don't have a bunch of people emailing them with complaints etc. I should know if cutting that lip off the inside of the downpipe solves my OB issues by June 2nd, though I'm still hoping for another cancellation this week.
