  1. Of course I do, Subaru's with CVT's already are a big minus for me. Every single CVT WRX owner I know has had some kind of issue which tells me these transmissions aren't designed for power. Tuners now no longer take WRXs with CVT's 'cauise they grenade right after they tune them. I'm just saying, all new cars are complex systems with hundreds of thousands of parts, which need years and years of real world testing by millions of users before they can be considered reliable. My go to is usually 2 years after release (which usually means next refresh) is when I get the new car.
  2. My rule is steer clear of new cars, especially CVT's. The mechanical method behind CVT's still gives me pause. I'm still eyeing a 2019 Subaru legacy, most of the engine problems should be ironed out by now.
  3. Yeah that's the starter grind, there's another grind I get when I slam the gear into reverse just when I start it. If I don't go as fast (ie, wait 1-2 seconds) there is no noise.
  4. Same, 2013 CVT legacy no problems. Just need to warm up a bit longer (like 3-4s) before going, as there sometimes is a slight grind noise when i start car and then go right away, pretty much now I start the car, then put on my seat belt, fiddle with some things before going. The grind has never happened again (I'm thinking it's the oil that takes a slight second to get into place.
  5. I've owned my subaru legacy 2013 since it was new, and haven't gone to the dealership once. I do my own oil changes, brake pads, and washer fluid, and maybe cooland fluid once, and that's all I have done to the car in about 5 years. I drive it pretty normally, and some times spiritedly. There's zero problems what so ever. I'm not sure how you guys are getting swindled with all the issues. I also live in Toronto where there is salt 6 months of the year on the roads.
  6. Manual is completely finished. It's like CRTs. Toyota's stats: 1% take rate for corolla. 5% take rate for corolla hatch. And get this bomb: 33% take rate for their 86!!! Even their sports car made for the manual, 66% of buyers are opting for the automatic. I'm now even thinking WRX has probably 60% automatic nowadays, I'm even considering the CVT (drove CVT vs the manual, manual feels so old school and only good when you want to pound the transmission for 0-60)
  7. Honestly, the struts are meh, it is cool but doesn't REALLY serve that much purpose. For the boot, having the non-strut is actually better in certain conditions (you can easily lift it). The bonnet I wish they remained strut as I don't like the prop rod but meh, if it saves 50 bucks then sure.
  8. No, do you think that's the culprit? Basically the second I let go of the gas around 40km/h or less, it sounds like something is scraping something spinning, then slows down more than it should. Once I have momentum, it doesn't do that at all.
  9. I'm also looking for this solution. My legacy 2013 exhibits weird conditions (droning when you leave the gas pedal from 40km/h to 15km/h and overall lag)
  10. I have a slight clacking / grinding noise when idling or accelerating. The noise goes away after > 2000RPMS. I'm at 35k, should this be a worrisome issue? The car in general is louder (I'm the legacy, my father got the same year Outback) than the outback, I'm finding that possibly worrisome.
