  1. Not yet but see attached. I need to start from scratch since my 3D scan was a part file so I could not modify it and edit it to make it USDM specific. I hope to get a good prototype together before the end of the year. And the second photo is a comparison of a JDM cut up into a USDM opening versus a JDM vent in a JDM bumper. I am trying to make a new one to fit the USDM opening and fit like OEM
  2. Another member currently has the JDM vent in his possession to 3D scan it. I will follow up with him to see how he is doing. Thanks and happy holidays everyone!
  3. How better is the brake feel? Night and Day? Or surprisingly not as much?
  4. abaig97, That looks great and essentially what I hope to replicate. But, for those wondering, my post 197 shows the USDM opening with the USDM reflector vent removed. As you can see, it is bumper behind there with holes for the USDM reflector to screw into. abaig97 had to cut the JDM vent AND dremel the opening of his USDM openings to make the vent fit. My attempt is to make a completely plug and play vent. Unscrew USDM reflector, screw in JDM replica vent without having to modify anything so that it can be easily converted back to stock if necessary. You CAN hack up your rear bumper but you will no longer be able to put the reflector back on. And an update, I just sent out today: the vents to get scanned. I am hoping to make big progress in the next few months. My engine just blew so hopefully you guys will allow me to make like $5 profit off each of these...anything would help my engine build lol Thanks everyone for your continued support and patience. Oh, and I have to look into a vendor account because I see abaig97's thread got closed for being an un-authorized GB. -Scott
  5. I tried to use some clay to make an outline of the USDM opening and use the clay mold to measure distances, angles, etc but it was not exact enough. http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z314/imprezsing04/6Mold_zpsublxpyct.jpg Here is a picture of the JDM Vent next to the USDM reflector. You can see the size difference here http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z314/imprezsing04/5Us%20Reflector%20VS%20JDM%20Vent_zpsgwkoyawe.jpg Lastly, This is the back of the USDM vent, then JDM vent, then the clay mold I made of the USDM opening. As you can see, the JDM vent is shaped much different and it clips into the shorter JDM rear bumper. The opening is more shallow so the angle of curvature is much more extreme. The USDM reflector is recessed in the USDM opening and it is held in place by a screw and plastic nut. My plan is to have the JDM vent 3D scanned, the curvatures pulled out to fit the USDM opening and then have a screw in the back of the Modified vent so that it screws into the existing USDM reflector hole http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z314/imprezsing04/8US%20Reflector%20Vs%20JDM%20Vent%20vs%20US%20Mold_zpsiptxhy0d.jpg http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z314/imprezsing04/9US%20reflector%20VS%20mold%20VS%20JDM%20Vent%202_zpsibyrt2vd.jpg I hope to have some progress in the next few weeks with the scans/CAD etc
  6. For those of you catching up on this and havent looked through the thread: This is a JDM vent held up to my USDM bumper opening. No cutting or trimming will make this fit since the JDM bumper is shorter, the curvature is different. The JDM vent is supposed to be recessed more so the JDM would have to be extruded out more. http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z314/imprezsing04/BumperVent.jpg A Picture of the JDM vents: http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z314/imprezsing04/BumperVent2.jpg http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3436809&postcount=46 Installed JDM examples on JDM rear bumpers http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z314/imprezsing04/Exhaust_K2Gear3.jpg http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z314/imprezsing04/DSC00746.jpg http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3458755&postcount=72 I have contacted Ravspec and other companies, they are not willing to take this on because it is such a small part I believe. I have tried contacting manufacturing places but they want metal molds made and it wouldve been in the 1000s to make the molds. So, I am in the process of trying to 3D scan them, modify the part in CAD and 3D print it possibly. I got a 3D scan done but the place i went to took months to do it and when it got down, it was in an un-editable format. http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=200297&stc=1&d=1458055315 I also tried to make a mold of it and try to CAD that but it is alot harder than it looks. These have been my efforts to try to make a mold and also a view of the opening and the difference in curvatures and how it really is not as easy as it looks: http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z314/imprezsing04/1IMAG3861_zpsa5rao3jm.jpg http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z314/imprezsing04/3overlay_zpsn49ajjql.jpg http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z314/imprezsing04/4rough%20draft_zps1qqm2nte.jpg
  7. Hey all! I have been so busy. Since starting this "project", I have since gotten a new job, new place, got engaged AND got married. LOL so things have been hectic. I will have some free time I think soon so I will continue this project. Discojon, I will message you. I found a member that could scan them for me but that is it. I would need to have the CAD modified to fit. do you have those capabilities? Otherwise, I need you to scan as an STP file so that I can modify it. The scan I got made took forever and he only made it as a PRT file and I cannot modify it. Check through my thread, I have some pictures of what the USDM opening looks like without the reflector Yes, I have a JDM piece and it is just for show. The vents arent even cut out. It is a solid vent piece.
  8. Apparently the STL file is locked. The place I got it 3D scanned locked it for editing. I might as well send you the reflector and the vent to get scanned. I will PM you. Thank you!!
  9. Yeah, it is basically for looks. The JDM one does not actually vent either
  10. How did I miss this thread?? It was created in 2014!!! http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/would-interested-usdm-08-09-rear-bumper-ventsi-164272.html Anyone willing to help me??? I have an STL file of the JDM vent which needs to be converted from a part file to something usable and then modified to mesh the shape of the USDM opening/reflector backing into the front of the JDM Vent And then I need a 3D scan or a CAD file made for the OEM reflector
  11. Thank you everyone for your patience btw. I do plan to have these done one day! Lol
  12. I am still waiting on the OEM reflector piece to get 3D scanned. It is taking forever. I need to call the guy and follow up. I hope he didn't lose it... Once the reflector piece gets scanned and I have it in CAD. I am going to manipulate the back so the backing of the OEM reflector is the back and then I have to modify the shape of the JDM CAD Vent to match the size of the OEM reflector. Essentially I will have to mend the JDM vent as the front and the OEM reflector as the back. If you look at the JDM vent piece now, their openings are clipped in. Our OEM pieces are screwed in. Yes sir. Adding on to my above comment. The whole OEM reflector comes off, my JDM replica vent will screw into the existing OEM hole. It will not clip into the bumper like the JDM vent It is hard to see your 09 Legacy. You said cut them out. You mean dremel out the bumper and have a big hole in the bumper? Right now I have a vinyl piece over my opening http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z314/imprezsing04/IMAG5158_zpsa0c175b0.jpg
  13. Well, I havent given up but I did make SOME progress, I just have some more loops to jump through. This is a pic of what I have so far, it doesnt fit yet and the actual item will utilize the USDM bolt hole instead of the JDM clips in the back because the usdm openings are too small. I have been super busy with my full time job and it doesnt look like it will get better until the summer. So, for those of you that hold on to your cars, please be patient, I am still trying! (Cause I know some of the people that were interested listed on post 1 no longer own their 08-09s!)
  14. Lol you did bump this. I skimmed through the thread. Good work OP. Good luck with the Daily 10's! Seems like you are getting close but what about the cage requirement? Oh and congrats on the engagement! I just got married 1.5 weeks ago! it's awesome!
