  1. So the radar cruise will allow you to clutch in and upshift or downshift and will not turn off the cruise. it will slow down to about 10mph and then will auto cancel. auto braking is weird, ive never actually stalled out due to it. im wondering if it does something to prevent shut off? That said im usually on the clutch when it happens anyway. I have to say with the radar cruise they need another setting for NYC mode lol. Even when set to closest distance its not close enough, prob 4-5 car length. Good for highway, shit for NYC traffic.
  2. Hatch is super roomy, but im coming from a legacy gt non wagon, and an evo x which has NO trunk whatsoever. Just fit 2 sets of wheels and tires, and my stock exhaust without cutting it up. Suprised you can't find the R. If you are willing to live with the 6MT (I am a bit upset bc of the clutch and the tune) there are plenty to be had. I got mine for 4K off sticker too, but most will not budge off sticker, especially on the DSG.
  3. So not on a miata but a 2018 golf r, looking for a good auto-x tire and maybe 1-2 track nights a year. Id like to drive to and from events on them, so no A7 Hoosiers lol. RE71s are the best but wear too fast, so right now im torn btwn rs3, v720, or DZ3. I hear really good things about the V720 and its a great budget tire, but I also hear they can de-laminate under high heat. Theyll be going on 18x8 Advanti Hybris. Right now im running a 235/35 19 PS4 on HRE 8.5s which are just too heavy and sidewalls are too soft. The car will not be competitive, STX class is too competitive with the ST siblings, and MS3s and what not, especially with the new exhaust and tune rules, but I'd like to shave a second or 2 and at least run close. Im thinking with just the weight savings alone thats good for a solid second. I do have 235/40 PSS in the garage on my old SSR 5x100s that I was thinking about mounting too. So long story short, anyone run the V720s? How do they stack up against the others? Bsaically at this point the RE71s are out, hard to justify cost vs. wear.
  4. All this talk a bout VW I don't know why anyone doesn't think of the obvious choice here Golf R Turbo AWD 6MT Hatch...ticks all the boxes for me. 4K miles on mine and I have 2 minor complaints, and thats the emergency braking feature. When pulling out of my driveway if im not on the brake and a car passes the car STOMPS on the brakes and you come to a shuttering brain melting halt. That and the clutch is too soft, and I'm going to need one soon. How these cars ship with GTi clutches is beyond me. Besides that this car does everything I want it to and more. 19x8.5 HRE wheels, EMD DCC springs, sway and chassis bar, downpipe, JB4 stage 2 tune, and soon to be Armytrix exhaust. 350ish AWHP and Tqe is pretty solid. Its not what my old big turbo LGT was, but it seems to do everything very well for daily and spirited driving. And 28mpg on the highway isn't too shabby. The STH class in Auto-X has quite a few rocket ships, so I really don't feel like I'll be competitive against fiesta and focus st especially since they changed the rules to allow for exhaust and tune, but I did really well in novice class and am thinking of moving to STH once the year is over. Shameless pics
  5. im so tired of ricer fly-bys in cobb STis. That and the M3 are the new civics. Im happy flying under the radar.
  6. 6 yr 72k warranty. The new interior is really nice. def nicer than any of the other hot hatches, but a bit more expensive at the same time. I stole mine for about the same as a civic R, so i'm pretty satisfied. Did just get a recall notice for one of the fuel lines, only an issue for 18' R and only for about 250 of them. I guess i just hit the recall lottery. Can always ignore it and hope it burns so i can get an rs3
  7. so you want a spacious hatchback with a great auto box awd and a turbo motor... y u no want golf r with dsg? a stage 2 dsg r smokes any of the above listed cars at a similar or cheaper price. and its not boy racer like that thing they call an STi now. yes, im a bit biased lol, but honestly.
  8. The new V60 and S60 from Volvo are absolutely gorgeous. I have no reason to get one as I don't have kids and just got an 18' Golf R, but damn do they look good. And the twincharged motors are cool.
  9. My 1300s ran out of fuel on E85 at about 500whp, so that looks about right. Was going to upgrade but sold the car before i could dump more $$ and fuel into the platform. I do miss it though
  10. Thats why i went golf r over s3, for stick (and $$). Its plenty quick with a tune, and some cheap suspension mods. not a 600awhp legacy, and not quite as fast as a DSG R but a hell of a lot better to daily drive. JB4, intake, and sways chassis brace and emd lowering springs designed to work with the DCC are a recipe in heaven. this car is amazing. Im a sucker for tech and the digital dash is gorgeous, and the adaptive cruise and lane keep are great for those boring drives out east. drive one and youll be smitten. i know I am as for the RS3, thats next...
  11. APR+ isnt enough power for the $$, if APR stage 2 was warrantied, sure id jump. At 350 miles i did springs, sways, intake, and JB4 on map 6. Fast enough for me for right now, until I get the urge to do more. Need to keep the clutch in good shape for a while.
  12. Thought i'd pop in to say I just picked up a 6MT MK7.5 facelift Golf R last month and sold the LGT. Love the new car, but theres a hole in my heart thats yearning for a 500hp LGT back.
  13. Still needs a good detail to bring out the luster of the new paint, but shes getting there.
  14. Lookin good! did my ats claipers today. love how short the jdm front end bumpers are. gives a totally different look from the side!
  15. if you step up to 18s, wedssports have that width and offset. ask me how i know and all you need to do suprisingly is roll. I never pulled and rarely rub.
