  1. Ok, I'll buy that. I have considerable experience with backing trailers, but it's all with automatic transmission vehicles.
  2. I think I replied to your post over on another forum. I have done a lot of boat towing over the years with my pickup trucks. The key thing with towing a 3000 pound boat with an Outback will be to have the tongue weight set-up correctly. Boats generally have tongue weights of 5-7%, as compared to travel trailers which are typically 10% or more. 5-7% of 3000 is only 150-210 pounds, you can measure this with a bathroom scale, and these figures are within the Outbacks suggested tongue weight. I would get your boat weighed on a certified scale (like at a truck stop) to make sure that it really does weigh only 3000 pounds all in. Additionally, I would add surge brakes to your trailer, you can get the parts at http://www.championtrailers.com/. Good luck and let us now how you make out!
  3. Looks to me like it's just invoice pricing, not 2% below... From this: http://vip.subaru.com/vip/default/purchase.jsp Welcome to the Subaru of America VIP Program http://vip.subaru.com/vip/images/spacer.gifPurchase Pricing VIP pricing for purchase transactions is based upon dealer invoice cost for the vehicle and factory installed accessories as invoiced and delivered to the dealer by SOA. This is the non-negotiable base price for all customers with proper VIP Program authorization. The VIP price is further reduced by all applicable SOA regional dealer or customer incentives. The special pricing under the VIP program cannot be combined with any other Subaru of America, Inc. promotional offers or vouchers (except Subaru MasterCard ® points). The VIP customer will be responsible for all applicable federal, state and local taxes and license and municipality registration fees. Any customary dealer administrative, advertising and/or dealer trade fees are additional.
