  1. just did my passenger front bearing had a shop press it for me. 2000 miles and I'm as happy as can be. now if i could only afford to replace EVERY single bushing on the car i think i would be good!
  2. same here. I have paint literlaly falling off the roof. the other day i scraped, sanded and painted all my "problem spots" hopefully it will get me through the winter.
  3. they were just old and dim. looked like they were ready to go any day.
  4. finally got to test out the new headlights and my reattached rear window defroster tab. both work flawlessly
  5. Had a $5 oil change at my wifes work and i got a chance to get up close and personal with the underside while it was up on the lift. no major mechanical issues that i could find. just got a list of stuff i would "like" to do lol.
  6. Yeah don't ever buy a first gen Kia Rio. they are crap. 06 and up are much better but i still wouldn't buy one again.
  7. I paid about $45 for the bearing and about $4 for each seal. got em all at Advance Auto. My wife works at a dealership in town so i just brought the steering knuckle to them and they did it for free. I think they feel bad for me, our 01 kia rio is in there every other week getting worked on! but it only took like 20 minuets so i would imagine about $20 or $30 bucks in labor would get it done.
  8. After a 50 mile test drive the front right wheel bearing is good to go. also have new pads rotors and brake hardware. and now with the "helicopter in mid flight" sound gone i can here a bad bearing in the rear. oh well its not terrible, guess i got another weekend project coming up lol.
  9. Finally got around to pulling the right side steering knuckle today. it actually came apart rather easily. got to take it up to the wifes work and have there shop press out the old and press in the new in the morning. that bearing is trashed kinda scared to see it when it comes out. 10. Cheapo Walmart foglights installed wired and working. now just have to tweak the aim a bit.
  11. Well we get down to -20F for about a week in January. but mostly its +20F to 0F. so it sounds like we get one good shot of air from your neck of the woods. Living in NW Illinois we get a bit of it all. Cold winters with blizzards and 100F summers with tornadoes, and about once every 7 years the Mississippi river floods real bad. Now to keep it on subject, lol. Time to call about getting my wheel bearing pressed out n replaced.
  12. that is a really good idea and i have no clue why i never thought of it before lol. it would really come in handy during our 1/4" to 1/2" ice storms we always seem to get a few times a year. that and i would imagine that the non window frame door setup is gonna suck this winter. i picture rubber stuck to glass lol. I also am not looking forward to winters arival. well maby the first good snow so i can play with my legacy. but other than that spring needs to hurry up already!
