I think you need to connect the green test connectors and turn the key to the "ON" position. Let me know how it's going.

hey man im having a hard time trying to figure out this vag-com cable. i get it hook into the usb port on my laptop and i have the lastest drivers and latest ecuflash, and latest ecuflash defs.. so when i stick just the cable into my com5 port and i have the driver put on 4800. and then the button lights up for me to click on to "read from ecu flash memory" so i click on that and it asks me what kinda of car i have so i click on it and then its says that there was an error.. now this is where im stuck, i figure i should have the obd11 piece stuck in the connector in the car and the other end into my laptop before clicking on this button that lights up correct?? another thing i dont get is if i do connect it into the ob11 my light disapears and it wont let me click on the "read from ecu button" and also do i need to have my car key in the "on" position?? im new to this site and dont really know how to do all this so if you could get back to me it would be GREATLY apreciated!=]
