I'm really annoyed that my Outback XT is going to come with wood accents- anyone want to trade for the regular silver pieces? :D

HAHAHAHA! Sucker. I wouldn't doubt that you will get someone that wants your "trim"
Seems kinda silly that the outback only comes with wood trim doesn't it?

Spraypaint is your friend!

Drift Monkey- no spray paint on my new car, ya asshat!
It is silly that it comes with wood- who wants a 250 horsepower car with wood? Although the performance is supposed to give you wood ;)

Maybe you can purchase it from the dealer, then flea-bay your wood. The trim too.

Does the OBXT come in wood trim even if you choose the charcoal leather interior? In the Leg GT, wood follows taupe.

According to Subaru.com and my brochure, the OB XT has "Titanium metallic trim on doors, console and automatic shifter handle".
So I think SOA spared the sport-minded turbo blokes the fake wood, which I did not think looked that bad in person on the 3.0R.
I'm still waiting for my dealer to call me to let me know that they finally have a OBXT to ogle, so I'm still going off what I read and have not seen.

This is a quote from the Subaru page on the XT Limited (which is what I ordered):
Titanium metallic trim on doors, console and automatic shifter handle 2 S
Titanium metallic trim with woodgrain-patterned accents on doors, console and automatic shifter handle 3 S

Did you get the charcoal interior or the taupe? Only the taupe interior gets the wood. That's what the footnote "3" indicates.

Yeah, I just noticed that myself- I ordered the charcoal so no crappy looking wood for me! :)

you can order the trim pieces for the doors and the console.
i already ordered a charcoal one but i did talk to a fellow nasioc'er that works at a subaru dealership and he mentioned its possible to just buy the pieces and swap em out.
so those who want taupe..can find salvation with the trim pieces.

I hear you. That would prevent me from getting wood about the car :o

Trade with the guy who just put on the nardi wood shiftknob. Wood might look better with that.
I keep wanting someone to clearcoat it, and see if it looks any more realistic.
I think for someone going the dignified route, a wood shift knob, the OB mahogany wheel with the audio controls, and the center console trim clearcoated to a similar shine.
Besides, sportscars/sedans of yesteryear all used to have wood interiors. Think Jaguar Mark II or XK series, and Aston Martin.

My Audi A4 had a REAL wood trim. While I never imagined myself in a car with a wood trim, it actually looked great.
Now, ..fake wood accents are total white trash catnip :o
When will companies figure this out?

might be interesting if the surface of the wood trim could be used. If it is 'porous' enough, and can accept some type of ink, then theoretically, you could paint some cool logo's, artwork, etc. on there, and then try iwanna's idea about clearcoating it, for a nice shiny look? Might work...anyone willing to try?

I actually think that the Subaru wood trim is kinda neat. It is different than all others because of the matte finish on the wood, and it goes well with the taupe. Black for me though.
