Hi All,
Just want to give thumbs up to a Eastern Subaru (Lilydale) here in Melbourne!
I picked up my new gt wagon on friday from them. Looked the car over and it was spotless.
However on Sunday when meeting with LMO (sure u have seen his posts by now) he noticed two deep scratches
on the right hand side tail light. I don't know how whether it was there from new or some1 has already keyed my
car while it was parked outside of my house on saturday but suffice to say, I was really pissed off!
On Monday I called Eastern Subaru and spoke to the sales manager there (Ian),
expecting to get typical Subaru (Dockland & Mentone attitude of we got ur money, so"fark off, it's not our problem!)
To my surprise who politely invited me to come to the dealership whenever I can so that he can examine the tail light.
Well this morning I too some time off and drove to the dealership. Ian had a quick look at the car,
and without a single argument had the service department replace the tail light with a BRAND NEW ONE!
Now guy, that's how you treat a customer! Subaru Docklands and Mentone should take notice!
The Service center manager (Trevor) was also very helpful and understanding!
If any1 is looking for old fashioned customer service and for people who care about your car,
give Eastern Subaru a go. You won't be disappointed
Cheers
Vlad
If anyone interested, I my wifes outback was damaged by Subaru mentone during the first service.

Vlad, that's great. I bought my car from Subaru Doncaster and they were quite good. Although I have had a number of issues that needed fixing and other parts were damaged in the process. Eg centre console was scratched while trying to remove a rattle.
i noticed the scratch after I left the dealer. I went back to the dealer and luckily they agreed to replace the scratched part without me needing to make a fuss. I was happy about this but why did it get scratched in the first place?
Anyway I'm not sure if I should take it there when my first service is due, my uncle is a mechanic so I might just bring it there eventhough I thought it would be better to get the first service done at the dealer.

Mark, glad to hear that you finally got everything sorted.
I think I know what rattle you talking about.
I have the same rattle in my liberty gt.
Looks like the drivers seat is too close to the center console, causing leather to rub against the console
and make rattling type noise.
When I put bit of foam in between it goes away.
Were they able to fix it?
sorry vlad, next time i look at your car i'll close my eyes!!;)
Glad to hear it was fixed for free as it should have been.

You are correct in saying that the drivers side chair is too close to centre console, causing a creaking noise. If you undo the two screws inside the back of the centre console and lift up the console you will see two brackets that the screws go into. I think you will find that the bracket next to the drivers seat is depressed downwards causing the console to lean slightly towards the seat, straighten the bracket so it is level with the one on the passenger side, I think you will find that the creak has now disappeared.
Hope this helps
Jim

Well LMO, if not for you, I would still be driving with a scratched tail light. By the time I would have noticed, it would have been too late! so thanks..
Thanks heaps Jim, will try to fix the bracket this weekend and let u know! For now I just stuck little foam between the seat and console to stop the noise (not really visible) but will try proper fix on saturday.
Bit surprised, how Subaru let this out from the factory, afterall this car is made in Jap!
Cheers

Yey they fixed it, I think they moved the console a bit to the left.
I have 3 main rattles remaining.
1. The little storage bin lid (where the Sat/Nav screen is supposed to go) is a bit loose on the left side cause it to rattle over large bumps like train tracks.
I think the dealer should have no troble fixing this. How do you undo the lid? i presume there are some screws that need tightening.
2. Crack sound from around sportshift area. i have had this problem looked at already and was fixed to some degree but still not perfect.
3. I haven't identifyed the exact cause of this one but sounds like a rattle near the side pillar on front passenger side. It may also be the actual window or perhaps the sunroof area. Any help to identify this rattle?

I should consider myself lucky that I only have one rattle inside the cabin caused by console.
To be honest since I only just got the car, I really haven't pulled anything apart so I can't really tell you what to check for. Suffice to say, if you had some1 go for a drive with u in a passenger seat and put bit of hand tension on the window, sunroof areas you should be able to see if the rattle disappears! That shouldn't be too difficult. There are plenty of people on this forum who used the storage bin area for additional gauges, they should know how it comes apart.
Will try to fix my car on the weekend and let you know
Cheers

Thats great to hear that you have had fantastic service at Lilydale and that you got the replacements without a hitch.......
BUT
Have to stick up for Docklands, NEVER had an issue ever there and was only in there yesterday to get a few things fixed which were done serioulsy in a matter of minutes and I had no appointment and drove straight in.
BUT
Its great to hear that we NOW have a few dealerships around Melbourne that are offering some fantastic service and prices.
GUYS, should you need/require any parts etc for your Liberty/OB/Forresters etc, please PM me directly and I will see what I can do.
All the best.
PS Also thinking about setting up at Drive & Show Day @ STi Docklands. Please give me some ideas and I will put something together.
Adam.

Tom Kerr in ryde, Sydeny also have very good service. I bought the car second hand from them, found out the engine was leeking oil onto the clutch, causing it to slip really badly, and they replace the clutch and the engine seals free of charge, no questions asked, plus they always have friendly service, i would recomend them to anyone.
