No pic, but the brochure says taupe interior has a combination of both "titanium trim with wood patterned accents" whatever that means.

here is the image I got out of subaru-global's flash on the Leggy/Outback 'special contents' -- I think its the Legacy, I don't know why, some one could say. I loved the pic either way -- wish the GT could get the non-perforated taupe like the OB can -- why wouldn't they offer non-holed leather? lol. [I know this is perf leather...]

I can't say about the taupe interior, but the GT black leather interior was just the aluminum without wood of any kind.

I've seen the taupe. Its nice, brightens up the interior. The wood is overall below average for two reasons. The dash wood looks very plasticy and feels flat and plasticy, definitely fake and looks the part. The wood on the steering wheel of the outback version looks good and feels fine but it doesn't match the wood on the dash. So in the outback ( I saw the LLBean) they have black dash, two tones of taupe leather, taupe carpet, titanium accents, two types of fake wood and half perforated leather. Its busy to say the least.

Just for the record, is "taupe" essentially pronounced "top"? I know, I'm a n00b.

Sort of.
The "au" in taupe sounds like a long "o" while the "o" in top sounds more like "aahh". Or in other words (so to speak) the "au" sounds like when you speak the letter "o".
Make sense? I didn't think so.

taupe (tope) noun
Color.
A brownish gray.
[French, from Old French, mole, from Latin talpa.]
- taupe adjective
I liked the LL Bean interior. I didn't expect the wood to look "real" but it was nice. Yes... colors are mixed but better (IMO) than the solid black alternative.

Point of clarification: only the dash and tops of the doors are taupe. The rest (seats, console, lower doors) are more of a grayish tan. Anyone have an "official" color name?
All photos are from the subaru.com site.
I'm hoping to get back to the dealership in the next week or so with a camera. I'll try to get "real" pics of the LL Bean interior although the photos above look just like what I saw. No taupe interiors on the Legacys in stock locally... just the Bean.
One more... all from the OB LL Bean

pow- great pic! mine was the Legacy  yup that's definately the interior for me. Blue GT Ltd. Sedan w/ taupe. 5spd. And the subwoofer. That's all I ask. Someone want to buy one for me? Thanks. I'll come pick it up.
The way to tell between OB and Legacy taupe interiors is the steering wheel.

Sorry gt_ltd... I meant "where in the country?" and/or "what dealership?". Was the black a GT? I didn't notice any buttons on the steering wheel for the stereo controls.

I test drove a red Legacy GT Ltd sedan yesterday with taupe interior. While the color of the leather was nice, I didn't like the simulated wood trim. It's subtle with a matte finish so you don't notice it much but looked a tad out of place. That's just my opinion.

Sorry I didn't notice this sooner. The black GT with the taupe interior was in Maine. It was presold and arrived the day of the official 'unveiling'.

No... I was thinking I could get my car sooner by getting one transferred to my local dealership. :D Presold? Phooey. Maine? Phooey. I guess I'll just have to wait.

The USMD wood trim is different from the photo above. It's a more reddish-brown color (sort of redwood-like) and has less swirly wood grain patterns.

Is it just me, but do those center stack supports look gloss black? since it is likely an outback, is there an ebony wood option?

I seen it in person, and my impression is that the wood trim is not for me. If I had no choice but to have to get the wood trim, I'd probably have it removed when I got the car, take it to a professional paint shop and have it painted (with a clear coat or two added) a very glossy regal blue to match the exterior of the car. That would probably look very nice.
But the stock wood trim had me wondering what they were thinking. I guess it contrasted a bit too much, and the wood trim I saw was on a 3.0R Outback sedan and the center console bin (the one where the navi would go) was also done with the wood trim.
The leather otherwise looked very good and tastefully done.
