Your car is crying out for a turbo kit
Your car is crying out for a turbo kit
Now don't YOU start in on me too! Paul has already bitten me with the modding bug. I DON'T need more power right now. I already bought new wheels and tires three days into owning the car. You guys are a BAAAD influence.

LOL :D Sounds like those new tyres need some more power, too
OK OK - I'll go sit in my box now

<bart>oh, OK :( </bart>
IMHO you'd be surprised how much fun those cars are when they have over 210hp and similar torque 8)
Go one, be a devil
Muhahaha - enjoying my B4 waaay too much these days. Need to get it on a dyno - it is far too fast:D Needs an IC, then a some more monitoring of temps etc (IC spray too) Oh my  I do believe this thing is going to need new diffs too  Quaifes front and rear should do nicely

Yeah yeah yeah - I'll go quietly now:)

Evil, pure evil!
I'm going to look forward to those dyno plots and see how much those Quaife units improve handling. How much should moving to a front Torsen unit like the Quaife with rear/center viscous units significantly improve AutoX duty?

Getting too much inner wheel spin/push under steer now. The diffs should help get the power down better, pulling the nose through turns without being so violent as to upset things. Since I am thinking more of hill climbs and track, than really tight autox/gymkhana (while keeping the car nice for street) the gentle nature of the Quiafe diffs suit. I'd say the time differences in what I am thinking of is going to be in the region of a second, probably more (gonna do the front first - finances permitting of course)

V sorry for the hijack kage
Now who's evil 555
I know I'll upgrade to a turbo kit eventually, but I have some other things I'll need to do to the car first:
1. brakes - at least SS lines and uprated pads. If that's not adequate, then upgraded calipers and pistons.
2. Chassis and suspension
3. A LSD for the rear, probably Torsen.
4. I/H/E?
I think that's a proper upgrade path, don't you?
Oh, and somewhere in there is driving school too.

Agree with everything you've mentioned. And yes, the order of actions is pretty sensible.
Brakes - well, you'd be surprised what a set of DBA rotors and decent pads can achieve!! The famous little AVO darling is basically only running lines, pads and rotors and that thing really stops well (of course it also runs on first class rubber, the #1 pre-requisite for decent anything on a car).
Chassis wise a cross bar does wonders, but you may want to go for some roll over protection. Under body bracing may be desireable when you start getting serious about handling, esp. if going to turbo power.
The OEM torsen is pretty decent (and the right size), and you may be able to find one at a wrecker even (I am of course assuming that that option is available stateside, I think it is).
And then of course the engine mods to "support" Having driven a well tweaked NA (which was also pretty darn nice), I can say that the turbo kit offers much more bang for buck
And yep, tweakin' that nut behind the wheel is always a good idea :) The Roadster is a great car for learning too :D
I'm sorry Anthony, DBA? And when you say cross bar, do you mean a strut tower brace, or something else? What rotors are the AVO car running?
I'm hoping to find a wrecker OEM torsen. Yes, we had them here. If I can't find that, I'll probably try to adapt a LSD from a TII RX-7.

DBA rotors - some of the best available IMHO. Been there, done that with some other big name brands (and some stupid expensive stuff). DBA caught me at a weak moment and had a few guys test their products - I think we are all converts. The stuff does what it says on the box. AVO runs their products on their car.
Cross bar would be for the cabin. Add roll bar to save your skull IMHO.
Have fun with your new "project" :D

New motha rubber from Bridgestone :D RE-01R being the schtick machines. 050s more Euro oriented (ie more wet grip and quieter), but still right up there.

The RE-01Rs look like the suck in water huh?

They look like they might be decent. They have grooves for water channeling so they might not be too bad.
