We're blessed to have a veritable cornucopia of places around...within an hour's drive, we can have food from any region, any country in the world. We even have one of the best restaurants (http://www.theinnatlittlewashington.com/home.asp) in the world within an hour (best in the US and best Inn in the US).

Herndon is near by and they're proud of the epicurial diversity - click (http://herndoncuisine.com/). If we ever move away, we'll miss it for sure.

I'm a fan of middle eastern, especially Afghan food lately. What are you eating?

I am ethnic! not really.... ;)

I love Japanese food, detest Korean (even though I am), love Mexican, Italian, and some Thai dishes.

Sushi. I love sushi... but cooked meats, not the raw kind. :)

I'm on a Middle Eastern food streak right now...anything lamb is good in my book!

korean food? uggh. that's the one thing I can't do. I'm also not a fan of sushi, though I've been known to eat ceviche. hypocrit? perhaps

everytime I go some place, some little Korean lady wants to feed me Kimchee. YUK! :puke:

i love love love sushi though... but I'm sure that has something to do with spending the first 2 yrs of my life in Japan vs in Korea.

Also, I've been a huge fan of Indian cuisine and Hawaiian chicken (can't remember what it's called but AK Wagon got me hooked).

around here, we get Peruvian chicken. so good. a pitcher of maracuya to wash it down and toasted corn to crunch on.

Stomach still churning from the spicy Indian dinner tonight - downed by a few Kingfisher beers it hurts so good!

Also a fan of Thai and Ethiopian food. There's a middle eastern joint near me that has a belly dancer on the weekends (hot) but she scares my kids so we don't get there much anymore.

The only time I'll avoid ethnic food is while on an airplane to the far east. That stuff is the worst. I made the mistake of ordering the "asian" box lunch vs the "american" lunch on a flight to Thailand and was served a fish head in a box which everyone else on the plane seemed to enjoy.

PGT, what korean have you had?

Dishes like Bul Gogi which is marinated beef you would prob really like. I like Korean, but not Kimchi.

I also like middle eastern food, and there are a couple of Ethiopian food restauarants that I really like in NYC.

You eat mostly with your hands, and the plate is really bread that you eat too!

I love ethnic foods, I'll pretty much eat any variety. Plus I live in Herndon ;) so I have my choice of the many delicious types within walking distance. One place I loved was Saffron Garden (middle eastern type food), which unfortunately closed after a few short months. It had a descent location but terrible marketing. Too bad.

Yup. Too bad it closed, it was probably one of my favorite new places. Had a variety of Kabobs and wraps. Had good service too, they just didnt get their name out amongst the numerous restaurants in the area.

Why no love for Korean food? Bulgogi and kimchee = In addition to Korean food, I love Chinese (Mandarin, Szechuan, Hunan, and even Cantonese), Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indian, Mexican, Italian, German, British, Irish, Jamaican, Costa Rican, etc. Of course, I'm Chinese and we're essentially human garbage disposals. I'll pretty much eat anything except ketchup and coleslaw. (Cole's law = there are certain combinations of edible ingredients that, when combined, produce inedible results.) :p

Love sushi, but hate the way Filipinos cook/present their seafood. I'll eat anything Filipino that doesn't have any seafood in it.

On another note, Halal chicken and rice drowned in white sauce, anyone?? (there has to be SOMEONE in here who'd know what I'm talking about)

I think it's beyond great from what I've heard. Top ten in the world takes something more than just great. We'd be down for checking it out....it's a once every 5 years kind of menu....price wise. Next time you guys plan a trip, let me know....they are something like 12 months out on reservations.

Ha, do you mean fried up whole where the fish is looking at you and filled with bones?

PGT

that's not bad....that's a staple in Jamaica. A fried fish and a Red Stripe for $3 US

 ok, I should explain. I went to one abuot a year ago. Long story short the people I was with kept on taking the chicken out before it was done. I had to stop at least 5 people from eating raw chicken & getting sick. The food itself, once cooked, wasn't bad at all.

Middle eastern food is pretty good. One of the better meals I had in the sand box was called Beef Shwerma. Not sure if that is the correct spelling though.

 Yes. And also when it's a soup, the fish is steak-chopped, bones and all and just floating in the broth.

My absolute favorite restaurant is an Indian place in the University District called Cedars. There's nothing better than super hot butter chicken and endless chai to warm you up on a rainy Seattle evening.

I just had Ethiopian food for the first time last year, and it was amazing. Now I'm introducing all of my friends to it...

I like lots of Asian food, probably because there are lots of good examples of it in the PNW. I'm a huge fan of Thai food - phad se ew, panang, larb...mmmm. Lots of good Thai places around here, too. I've found a couple of really good Szechuan places locally, and I'm in love with hand shaved noodles. I never knew these existed, but now "regular" chow mein has completely lost its allure. And sushi is always tasty.

And I love a good taco truck. Specifically, Tacos la Monarca in Walla Walla. Don't hate it till you've tried it.

In Herndon, Supper Club of India is one of the best Indian food restaurants around!

I went to Minerva for the first time and I found the buffet to be excellent; service stinks, but if you do buffet, it doesnt matter too much. There are tons of Indian places in Herndon, I can think of 7 off the top of my head!!

yes, good stuff. sadly, there are no good Cuban restaurants around me. I asked my banker who's Cuban and she said she 'nada'

there's a great Cuban joint at Cocowalk in Miami. I'd go back just for lunch...it was damn good. garlic chicken and a cortado doble after

I want some Pernir!

IMO, the best Cuban joints are in Miami and NYC. I personally prefer the small family run joints..the essence gets lost when they try to make it fancy and cuisine-ish.

I have cortadito skills...I use the traditional cafetera and crush the sugar and coffee to give it that nice sweet foam, then I add a splash of evaporated milk..I love it!
