dino bbq is the shit. there is one in syracuse and there is one in uptown manhatten i think. btw if you make your own bbq at home, they actually sell most of their sauces(4) at stop and shop right between the mustard and ketchup.

I love Smokey Bones restaurants!
The best tasting ribs I have ever had.
But if you want slow cooked real deal, Backwoods Boys BBQ team has the best place. I usually have to phone in my order in the morning cuz if not, he'll sell out before 11AM And that is to pick up like at 2pm Would smell up the house with a mouthwatering odor.
around me, The Might Midget. Highwaydrifter and I grabbed some at Partlow's Market in Ashburn....excellent too.
Willard's BBQ in Chantilly, VA = excellent.
Pierce's Pit BBQ in Lightfoot, VA = excellent.
Kaneke's in Waimanalo, HI = excellent
Famous Dave's = overpriced, underportioned average slop. I do have a $25 gift card though...been sitting here over a year.
All the BBQ I need is on TV. BBQ University with The Man, Steven Raichlen.
Too bad it's on late night and I end up salivating al over my remote control and looking to pig out at 11:30pm:lol:

Bobby's BBQ on highway 1 in warrenville SC. just outside of Augusta GA, I challenge any BBQ lover to check it out! it puts everything else I have had to utter SHAME!
their sauce is not your standard mustard base like the carolinas, its something totally unique, although bobby will not disclose what that is to you, he very well may sit down and chat with you while you eat.
Great family atmosphere, buffet style with chicken on the bone, pulled fat free chopped unseasoned bbq, and pulled pre-seasonsed bbq. Catfish, hushpuppies to die for, corn, yams, macaroni and cheese, green beans, hash, dilled and sweet pickles, icecream, "naner" pudding, and all the sweet tea you can drink.
Its a small log cabin style barn like building complete with gift shop. drive till you're in the middle of nowhere, then keep going, when you see the car dealership strangely surrounded by NOTHING AT ALL, look across the street, and there it is :P
looks like most of you are talkin bout ribs and beef bbq, this is pork bbq, not a fan of beef bbq at all.

In Chicago Smoque or smoke Daddy (highly debated whats better between me and fweasel)

Get yourself a Big Green Egg (http://www.biggreenegg.com) and you'll be surprised how good your own BBQ can be.
Otherwise, it's all good as long as the meat is good wherever you go and no matter what the style.
Here in Georgia, it depends which day you happen to go for BBQ. I've had good and not-so-good at the same place. Some good places are out of business.
I like Daddy D'z. Haven't been to Pig 'n Chick but hear good things. Swallow At The Hollow and Rolling Bones are OK. Haven't been to Harold's but that's supposed to be good. Not a fan of Dreamland, but the original place in Alabama is good (anything you want as long as it's ribs).
As for BBQ meccas, I've been to Arthur Bryant's in KC. Excellent ribs, but wasn't impressed by the sauce. Lexington in NC was OK. Goode Company in Houston was good.

Bubba's BBQ in Jackson, WY, is the best I have ever had, bar none. I would go back just for their hot wings, pulled pork, ribs, etc.
Other notable ones are;
Dinosaur BBQ (where you can find one)
Tail 'O The Pup outside Lake Placid, NY (only open in the warmer months)
As for the Dinosaur BBQ, you can (I have) buy one of their cook books that tells you what you need to make a bunch of their meals, sauces, etc. I highly recommend it.
I say we have a meet at the Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse one day for anyone local or willing to make the trip. It is amazing there!

So cooking steak over a charcoal grill isn't a barbeque

grilling.
bbq=slow even heat in an enclosure. They usually use wood (I know charcoal is technically wood but its different)
grilling is an open faced high heat/spot heat. You can put a lid on it to better even the temp out but its the temp that generally is the difference.
its a common misconception really. I used to have no factual basis on it but I started hearing "bbq" so often when refering to grilling that I looked it up

Dino BBQ in NYC is good. However, I prefer Blue Smoke (I believe it is on 27th). RUB is also good. I was on a huge NYC BBQ kick and ate at a bunch of places, can't recall them all at this time. I'll have to go through this thread when I have more time.
