Are there any wheels that are 17x8.5+ that are 5x100 and will fit a WRX or LGT? Goof for everyday driving?

if you search on tire rack for an '04 STi you'll find some. just make sure the offset is the 45-48 range. there are some volks and others that are 50 or more and they will likely rub. if you search there are more than a few folks running 8.5 wide rims in either 17 or 18. I've seen the gramlights 57f for as little as $1100 on nasioc.

Isn't the STI a 5x114 offset instead of the 5x100 for the WRX and LGT?

04 STi is 5x100

If I decide on a WRX, I'd look into going with 255/40/17 tires, but would need 8.5's for that to work.

Here are 255/40/17s on a stock WRX:

If you get the 2008 STi (like you should), you won't have to worry about the limited selection of 5x100 wheels.

17x9 5x100+44 fitment. Actually, I'ld rather get the STi.

I had looked and all that was there was:

Enkei ES-Tarmac / 17x8.5" / 48mm / 16lbs (nKoan (http://www.neurosybir.net/nkoan/images/new_enkei/IMG_2263_sized.jpg))

They're white and look plastic - not something I'd be willing to do daily driving with: 1) I don't like the looks 2) I bet one pothole and they are toast.

I was going to say that my autocross wheels are just the specs you are looking for. But, first off, they are discontinued and replaced by the Enkei RC-T4, which doesn't have a 8.5" width in 5x100.

FWIW, the Enkei MAT technology is surprisingly strong and even though I only race on them, I still drive to and from events and and I've hit quite a few potholes with no issues. But, I agree with what you say about daily driving. I hate having them on my car on the street, even just to-and-from events. I can't imagine driving daily on them.

As others have pointed out, there are options now.

Also, I believe I was told that you could order the AME Tracer FS-01 in 17x8.5 +45 (or 48).

I only ordered mine in 17x8 because I already had 8.5" Enkei ones for racing, and I didn't feel I needed anything overly aggressive for street driving.

The Tracers are strong wheels. Again, manufactured by Enkei using their MAT technology. Good stuff there.

gotta make sure the offset is right or you willhave strut clearance issues or will have to roll ther fender on such a wide wheel and tire combo. You look on tirerack.com for wheels for the 04 STI, you will find a few 17x8.5 wheels.

I just saw a group buy on NAsioc for similar (the same?) wheels - 17x9 5x100. $1299

That's where I got the pic.

I love wide deepset rims. Cool wheels but I think they would stick out too far on the LGT.

I believe the group buy is a custom order.

If you want them, you'll need to get in on the GB.

I would jump on them real fast if I was considering a WRX hatch.

slipstream is the cheap option:
17x8.5 +48 with 245/40 17 bfg kdw2 (a wide tire for the size)
rolls definitely needed in back.
rubs fender inboard plastic liner in front at lock.
dropped on swifts.

EL PAALO, your wagon is hot. I definitely think a nice wide rim/tire combo looks even better on a wagon. Something about how it balances the overall look of the wagon with the right drop.

I dont know about you guys,..but I got a good deal on 04' Gold STI rims and tires (my 2nd set but being gold this time) and I think for a DD, its a better fit for me.
The Advans 8.5 width stuck like crazy, but were steamrollers and sounded like a 4x4 truck in the cabin. Just made a lot of road noise and slower steering response with the Kumho MX 245/40/17's,.
