Hey Guys...

I had a peep under the hood for the VIN number...now I've been looking on the other Subi websites and came up with a VIN decoder through legacy central. Here it is how it is on the car:

E-BF5
VIN: BF5-063707 Model: BF5-C49P
Trim Code: 220 Option Code: EX
Engine Type: EJ20XXXXXX
Colour Code: 013
Transmission Type: T2102ZB2AA
Engine Number: EJ20-XXXXXX

Now...on the registration papers I have it says it was first registered in Japan in 1992. As far as I have been able to tell, the VIN is supposed to be 17 characters long. Am I a total fool and reading it wrong or is there something I should be investigating?

Would appreciate any help at all
Cheers!

The Subaru model data looks fine to me.

I think u are possible confusing terminology.

Your New Zealand VIN number is 17 characters long however u are looking at the Subaru model data plate.

Your VIN number is usually etched into the rear window.

Just a minor point this isn't really a performance matter :D
