I plan to move an old system from one car into a to-be-purchased new outback wagon. Trying to plan a bit, and limit my new purchases to cleansweep, and re-use everything else. It's old stuff now, but still sounds fine to me.

Question is about my front speakers - a/d/s a6is components - which have a big fat 3" deep woofer. I searched the forums a lot and have read some conflicting opinions if 3" might be too big, and 2.75" the real limit. The spacers from IA performance seem to say up to 2.92" - but I figure that's probably with one kit - and some people talk about using multiple kits. Worried about the outward excursion hitting the door panel too.

Just phishing for comments or real deep speaker examples installs people have actually done.

Thanks... I was glad to see there's a good site with some knowledge for these cars. I was amazed how many people have fab'd custom wheel well sub boxes on here. Maybe some day I'll try one...

The ADS should fit ok with about 1" worth of spacers. I was able to clear the window weight with the magnet, but the extended tweeter hits the door panel. Since you don't have these extra tweeters, you should be good.

As for making your own subbox, do it! this was my first one and knocked it out in my spare time over a couple of weekends. Once you get going, it's pretty straight forward.
