Decided to take a little risk and go with 19"X8" with the help of my boys over at TSW. Slam dunked it 19X8 45+Offset perrrrrrrrrfect fit. 215/35/19 General UMP's.
Take a look nothing like a 19" guys sorry. Did not lose any power that I can feel.
Also installed the H-tech to clean up the gap a little. They are a little sloppy mostly because of the stock struts. Handles well and ride is decent for the most part. The rate should have been increase slightly to accommodate the 3/4 drop. This will account for some of the slop you feel with these. Over all I'm happy with the whole thing set. Love driving the car more than ever now. Everybody drives by slow now when passing the house. Let me know what you think or any questions you might have.

Any chance you have LGT stocker 17's in good shape, interested in So Cal. Even better if they have good rubber too....

Me likey too. I was looking at those and the Sakata 5s. I didn;t realize they had 19s @ +45, I was only looking at 18s.
ironically, i talked with one of the TSW guys just yesterday. Really nice people and I'd love to buy a set of their wheels. He said that they don't typically offer the high offset for Subarus b/c we typically don't buy their wheels. Mostly VW guys by them. I said, don't you think that's a catch 22? He agreed. Maybe we can approach with a group buy option?
I've never heard of 19s slowing the car down. Have others said this? Can anyone explain? Maybe Porsches should come with 14s? LOL

Larger diameter wheels are heavier than smaller wheels (assuming same type & construction), that's where the "slows you down" part comes from. It'll also affect the suspension performance over bumps & such, higher unsprung weight isn't a good thing there. It's a neccesary evil sometimes to clear larger brakes, but other than that there are more negatives than positives from a performance standpoint.
Long as you are aware of what you're giving up, do whatever you like to your car - I'll stick with 17's personally :)

Never thought of it from that angle (or any angle really) ;) Thanks for the info. Style (and cost) over performance....hmmm...
I just wish they'd give Subies the same offset and tight wheelwells that BMW does. I compared mine with a buddies new 3 series, and my 17s look so much smaller than his 17s. Damn optical illusions!

Yes you are correct about unsprung weight and the fact you must lose side wall to accommodate the rim size. I have always ran 19"s I track them, drag race them and show them. In something like this for the street you would only be giving up looks. None of the other stuff will come into play 99% of the time. I did have a BBK kit on my Passat so yes sometimes they are the only thing you can run. No offence, however, I was not going to except limitations having to run an 18's, the look is night and day over 17"s or 18"s the ride and performance really minimal and a lot of it seem to come from the tire you’re running. I'm running Stage 2 TDC with UP & DP, K&N Typhoon, UR underdrive pulley set, so pulling from an M3 is not a problem for me. The Rims only weigh 24 lbs
One thing I did not cover is body flex from a bigger rim. A well designed zero pivot triangular style Front and Rear Strut tower bar are next on my plate. When you take out sidewall and suspension you put a new load on the body. This will most likely be a custom fab deal. Anything with brackets or bolt do little to nothing. They just pivot with the body movement. Even with the bolts cranked at full possible ft.lbs the body will have no problem flexing them.

i'm running 245's on a 8" wide. I guess that just means I stop, turn, and go better.

They def are wide, prolly 8" at least. They also come with a meatier tire of course. I really think Audi and BMW do their best to reduce wheelwell gap and choose wheel styles that flow from the center outward fooling the eye that they are larger than they really are.

^^^Definately not...I'm on a low carb diet now. It would however be wise to speak with true knowledge or at least experience. I'v run good quality mesh wheels on higher performance cars than these for years in the NY metro area without ever as much as a bend. If you can top those road conditions and still give real info to back up your sarcastic BS post , then please do. Otherwise...like mama said..If you don't know wtf your talking 'bout, keep thy BS posts to thyself.
By the way...love those white wheels...I remember when they were in style.

Why did you got 215/35/19 on 8"? I went with 225/35/19 on 7.5" How is the ride and what PSI are you running? I had H-tech on my wagon for about a year before they started to sag and bottom out with stage 2 power. Now I have KW v.2s and love them. In this picture the KW v.2 raised the rear 1.5" over my sagging and lowered the front 1" with the KW's set 1/4" below max height. All 19'sare not heavy. My 19's weight about the same as stock. I agree I know now I should have gone with a 225 just for a little more road contact and comfort. I will do this with the next set. I was a little worried about tire rub with 225 so 215 for now.

Driver error will crack rims. I have ran a 19 for over 6 years combined and only one incedent when I hit a full size toe hitch going 80mph on the 91fwy in IE and was still able to drive 13 miles on it until the tire gave up on me. Front pass rim was dent but not cracked. TSW are very strong but a little heavy. I'm OK with this. At 24lbs like I said I felt no power loss.

I forgot to tell you guys I put in the rear extra Isolator. Worked out perfect as you can see. I'm on a major budget with this thing. H-Tech lowered down perfect for what I was doing and were cheap. If it sags I will be calling them I have a little relationship with them now. Coming from Eibach I did cringe putting these on but for cost and drop thats all there was. I did note about the 215 a bit ago as to why. I was told to run these to be on the safe side for rubbing purpose.

Sorry I have never been a big fan of black on black on black. I like the wheels to pop out a little while still maintaining the look that they belong there. I never like to see a car and wow look look at those rims!!! More like dam look at that car!!!
Really the car looks much better in person than the piks.
Thanks everybody for the nice compliments and comments.

For others out there, TSW offers this one style in +45 b/c it fits the new VWs and is one of the few double-drilled since it hides behind the cap. All other styles sadly are not avail in the 5x100 and +45 regardless of wheel size. :(

I am running 19's also Arospeed Rev 2 also with Michelin PS2's 225/35/19. The wheel in tire combination weight in at an astonishing 7 lbs lighter than the 05-06 OEM wheel and tire combo. 49lbs vs. 56lbs, I've notice the initial take off requires a more aggressive launch but the higher gears seen to pull much harder.
