Hey all,
Can anyone tell me where they connected the ground wire for a hard wired RD?
I ran the wires for my Passport X50 last Friday but am having a hard time finding a good place to ground the "add a circuit".
Thanks in advance! :)

I connected mine to one of the negative's from the cancer-stick lighter socket. :) Sinced I sourced the switched 12V power from there for the hardwiring (for both my x50 and my ZR3), I thought that this would be a good "one-stop shop."
There should be a ground screw somewhere around in the cabin's fuse-panel, but I can't tell you this for-sure as I've not wired my setup as such (most of my other interior grounds are wired through a ground wire that I passed through the firewall).

I just grounded mine to the metal right by my shifter

Troof did the same thing for my X50. +12V and Ground from the two wires for the cigarette lighter, this way you dont need, to crimp on a ring terminal, itll save you 7 seconds !!!!!!!
Also, my cigarette lighter charges my cellphone and powers my radar detector with zero issues at the same time. I love the klepto connectors that come with the hard wire kit, very convenient. I use them for everything now :)

^ As long as the "klepto" (otherwise called "Vamp" or "T-"connectors) are designed for the proper gauge wires (the gauge range is typically printed on both the box/blister-pack as well as the tap itself), they're very easy to use, and very consistent as well. :)
I've also used the cig. lighter as a 12-V accessory outlet, powering some other low-drain devices (G-Tech, reading lamp, cell-phone charger, etc.), and it's been fine - keep in mind, too, that I'm using this particular fused connection for dual-purpose to start with (both the x50 and ZR3 are on this circuit). I've not upped the amperage of the fuse, either. :)
When I use my inverter, though, that I'll take through the console 12V-accessory outlet. :)

Yes, very true. Never want to use them on an unspecified gauge, or any electrical connector for that matter. I just used them to bypass both dead man switches on my lawn tractor. Now you dont have to be sitting on it, and also you dont have to have the brake all the way in to start it.:lol: I know I know, its called a deadman switch for a reason.

Good choice, even though it probably still wouldnt draw enough amperage with the radar running to pop a fuse. But who knows, better safe than sorry.

Sounds like something that Tim Taylor would've done.

^ I agree. It's just "superstition" on my part, I think. :)

Nice - thanks for the help, fellas. :)
I took the weak man's route and had Rallitek run the ground for me.

I lied earlier....
The cig socket is a 10 or 15 amp fuse
the power socket in the armrest is on it's own 20 amp fuse and it shares that with the rear one in the cooler wagons
