OK, long awaited by several members, my chili recipe! This is a sweet and mild chili that has a delicious kick of brown sugar in it!
Hogmeat's Sweet Chili:
First, gather your ingredients:
*2lbs 90% ground round beef. Don't use just hamburger off a shelf - go to the counter and ask for 90% ground round. It is much more tender and has a more even taste then $2/lb hamburger
*2 cans of light red kidney beans
*1 can of chili beans
*Garlic - chop your own, or buy it pre-diced
*2 huge red onions
*1 medium-sized green pepper
*3 large cans of stewed tomatoes
*2 large cans of tomato juice
*2 containers of mild chili power
*1 container of cumin
*a bag of brown sugar
*salt, garlic salt:

Cook your ground round until brown, then cook it a little more. You want it to be a little bit crispy. Don't drain the grease. Add 1/2 of your chopped onions:

Add about 1 tblspn of garlic:

Salt the meat with garlic salt, and regular salt. Taste it - should just be slightly too salty to enjoy. The juice will dilute the salty taste:

Add all of your chopped green pepper:

Simmer this mix to soften the veggies.
Add the rest of your onion (add now to keep it crisper):

(As you can see, I had to split into 2 pans - I didn't have a gigantic enough one!)
Add your beans, both light red kidney and chili beans:

Add your stewed tomatoes:

Add entire container and 1/4 of 2nd container of chili powder; add some, mix, add more, mix:

Add 1/2 cup of brown sugar; add, mix, add, mix:

Stir and simmer for 5 minutes
Add 1 and 1/2 cans of tomato juice; 1 and 1/2 is a good start - add more if you think it needs more. The chili is supposed to be very juicy!!! You'll see why:

Yum or Yuk?

Simmer for 30 minutes; while simmering, add more chili powder, cumin, salts, and sugar to taste. No batch is the same!!
All Done!!!
Enjoy with a peanut butter sandwhich, in which you dip into the sweet juicy chili and soak up the juice. Enjoy sandwhich and chili on a cold day!!
