Finally got the dash apart and I see 2 green/black wires on the right connector (pins 5 & 15) as well as one green black wire on the left connector (pin 13) , can someone please provide additional detail, photo or an alternative tapping point?

much appreciated!

I'm sorry, I can't help you. Most of us are quite a bit more familiar with the newer models than the old ones.

Let us know how it goes, and post up some pics of the install job! :)

www.subaruoutback.org (http://www.subaruoutback.org) has members with older Outbacks that might be able to help too.

You could test both wires behind the cluster but its a PITA to drive around with a multimeter hanging behind the dash and the cluster plugged in.

I would tap both wires and run them to were you're going to install the AVIC.

When you're done with the install of the AVIC I would try each one out.

In the AVIC's nav menu there is a icon in the settings menu that will show you the connection status of various circuts, like speed sense.

It wont hurt the car or the AVIC if you hook the wrong wire up first.

Hope this helps

Tom
