I would like to replace my OEM shifter knob with a leather wrapped shifter knob.
What OEM options are there (want to retain boot holder)? Are there some Limited editions that have good ones? Or maybe an older year? I found this in Subaru's accessory catalog for the Outback Sport:

It kind of looks like the shifter on my 1998 Outback Limited. I really liked that shifter. Is the above accessory really leather like it's advertised or is it part leather and part vinyl?
Thoughts? Options?

Looks like the WRX knob. You can go over to Nasioc and buy a WRX knob for around $15-20. Also, the old RS 2.5 knobs are like the WRX knobs but have red stitching. Those go for around $50-60.

I've got a WRX one sitting in my garage. Bought it to try it out...it was just a bit too small compared to my OEM Momo knob....
If you want it, it's yours for 6pack of some Local Micro Brew from the PNW!!

I've got a momo shift knob that I took off my '04 WRX. Its the OEM one, so it holds the shift boot. It just screws right on. It should be the same part and fit the legacy (can anyone confirm?)
I paid $80 new. I used it for 2 years before I traded the car in. Its in great shape.
They are really solid. Nice weight to them. With 1/2 being leather, you won't burn your hands in the sun.
Send me a PM with an offer if you are interested. I've got the box it came in as well. Paypal is cool with me.

I've seen the Momo. It's the only one listed for the '05+ LGT, but I know that WRX ones will fit; hence the question. The problem with the Mom is that it is only 1/2 leather wrapped.
I did a search on subaruparts.com. The WRX one appears to be the same P/N as the one for the '98 Outback. However, I ran into two Forester shift knobs. I didn't know the Forester had a different shifter?
35022AC030 - WRX and older LGT/OB $38.80
35022FC000 - '03 Forester $12.38
35022SA000 - '04+ Forester $42.93
Anyone know the differences?

This one isn't OEM but it might work.

I once sat in a MR2 (older style) and would have test drove it until I looked over at the center console. There was a flesh-tone, leather wrapped shifter about 2 inches in diameter and about 6 inches long in the console. Apparently, I was expected to grab it and pull it out of gear. No thanks!

Why not just get this one?

I got one in my EDM Wagon, and just love it.
Nice weight, easy to fit and excellent feel to the leather.

He wants to retain the stock boot holder . . . otherwise a good option.
Its not leather but the rubber rings help in the cold. everything stays stock except the knob. I can make you one if you want. Any shape, as long as I can turn it on the lathe. If one of a kind is your thing this is for you.

That's nice, but I think I'm going to try Snodork's shifter first.
I used to have an STi titanium knob. It looked cool, but it was kind of slippery and it was freezing cold in the winter especially since I place my palm on the top of the shifter.

Nice!
I'd run across a guy a few years back who had mounted stereo controls on the shifter in his Miata. I always like the idea, but not his implementation.
