I recomend this thing to anyone! Its great... as others have described it easy to install and works fantasticaly. The sound clarity is great, and no one even knows im not talking directly into my phone!
I installed the mic between the front reading lamps, put the display box in the cubby hole (still closes to completely hid everything), the blue tooth module is behind the climate control unit inside the dash. NOTHING is visiable and no one even knows I have it in my car until someone calls.

Nice install! I've got the CK3000 (as several members here do) and it's great! The CK3000 is basically the same as the Bluetooth Subaru Kit they sell abroad (AFAIK they don't sell it in the States).

Its all quick connects, some of the wires aren't used. You dont have to physically power it if you use the harness properly. Its all plug an play, you dont use any of the wires that dont have a connector on them.

Are there fuses in the fuse holders in the harness??? If so, try reversing the two leads on the fuse holders like they say in the manual. Check the fuses for breakage as well. Theres two harnesses, one for power and one for speakers, with the Subaru Harness, you can provide power thorough the original harness to the HU a couple different ways without the bluetooth working.
It took me a while but I got everything eventually. If your not getting power to your HU, I would say its a fuse on your fuse block, or in the fuse holders on the harness. Good luck.

Sorry ive been out of the loop on this thread.....as far as wiring my only suggestion would be what was already mentioned about making sure you switch the fuses as the directions say.
Im using the Motorola Razor with mine and it works great.

I havent had time to look into it further. But the manual stated that "When fuses are properly connected, bluetooth kit will say 'Goodbye' when you turn off the car."
I dunno if its how our LGTs cut power when turning off the car, but I experimented several ways and I do not get the "Goodbye." But on the other hand it doesnt drain my battery or loose its memory when the car is off either so I think I have it hooked up correctly.

Hmmmm ... from doing my own install, I wouldnt think so. Factory Woofer??
All it does it interrupt the Audio and Power harnesses going to the factory radio. Im not exactly sure how the factory woofer splices in there, but it virtually just interrupts these cable paths and then continues them into the back of the HU. Maybe its a power consumption issue?? I doubt the BT kit takes anywhere near as much power as the Sub.

The sub was installed by the dealer. Don't know where the sub comes off.

I would say its pretty easy to wire a remote mute button for the Sub, acts just like a switch on the 12V feed.
Any custom stereo shop could do it.

anyone have a suggestion for me as to how to get rid of reverb or echoing on my system. I am not using the parrot, but i do have a different bluetooth kit and i have my mic mounted in the right part of my sun visor in that little elastic tab. I cant modulate the volume for the speakers during a phone call and the mic picks up the people talking to me and it just makes a mess.

Called Parrot, they said that the unit will not interrupt the sub. The Tweeter guy said that if you tried it, the subs volume will go way up when you mute the speakers.
Ah. The reason is because, on some model years, the sub gets its left channel input from a separate 8-pin jack on the rear of the radio. The right channel input comes from the HU's right rear speaker output.
The Parrot mutes the radio by breaking the connection between the radio and the 4 speakers. That won't mute the sub output on the 8-pin jack.
There are a few possible work-arounds to keep your sub:
A) Convert your subwoofer harness to get the left channel from the left rear speaker output (very easy mod). Then the sub will be muted along with the 4 speakers.
B) For certain models/years, that same 8-pin socket includes pins for a phone audio input and a mute function. Grounding the mute pin mutes whatever source was playing on the HU, sends the mono audio signal to the front speakers (at a medium volume -- independent of what your volume setting was before), and the radio displays "CALL" on the LCD. That would be the best option if you have one of the HUs that supports it.
C) You could just ground the phone mute control pin to silence the audio source. It will mute the subwoofer output on the 8-pin socket also. Then let the Parrot send their audio directly to the speakers through their funky T-harness.
If anyone is interested, I can post more details later.

why would that matter? it's a function of the phone and the bluetooth device you would be using, not necessarily the carrier.
BMac1203
04-06-2007, 07:33 AM
Not necessarily. Verizon's phones are all handicapped when it comes to Bluetooth. VZ phones don't work with any of the OEM vehicle phones or CarPC's (Audi etc) or PhoCo for CarPC. They "work" in that if youre lucky you can send receive calls, but none of the other features work.
For this device, Verizon may work well enough. But in general, Cingular's phones are most compatible with this sort of thing.
If you look at a list of compatible phones for a bluetooth system (say Audi again for example) Verizon's phones arent on it.
Verizon's phones can use certain bluetooth things fine (headsets, etc.) but not more complicated things. They cant communicate back and forth between them (to read your phone book, SMS mssgs, etc.)
But still looking into this Parrot setup. Heard good things. And since my phone wont work with my CarPC, maybe this setup will work for me!

If they did lift it, maybe on the new phones. I have a MotoKRZR, one of their newest phones. Doesnt work for crap with ANYTHING related to bluetooth (except for Verizon specific accessories: headset, etc.).
Im pretty sure theyre still handicapped...my phone's only a month old, still no go.
I want to switch to Cingular, but the $175 cancellation fee and not being able to call my Verizon friends for free anymore....creating big decision hurdles for me.

Its a tough call, go to someplace other than Bestbuy. Go to a Stereo Installer w/ the Parrot kit specs, and explain that you need the sub to be muted when the kit receives a call, Im sure they can figure something out.
A place like Bestbuy isnt gonna void and warranty's or do anything against manufacturers recommendations, go to a private installer, Im sure they can figure it out.

True. There's a chance the sub might thump when you restore the power, though.

I'm not surprised Parrot wouldn't know about the mute function on the 8-pin jack (or, for that matter, from the steering wheel buttons), since those are not as widely documented.
Subarus are such a small market as it is that I'm sure Parrot won't want to mess with trying to simulate the steering wheel button mute (it's not reliable anyway -- if your radio was already muted, the Parrot would unmute it during the call).
Unfortunately, the phone functionality was removed from the 8-pin jack on 2007s. You get the Aux input for your MP3 player instead.
Your HU might also have another jack for the OEM nav system, but that would be much more difficult to adapt to use with a phone kit.

I finally managed to install my CK3000 over the weekend - pretty straightforward, seeing as I've already removed the head unit twice (once for subwoofer install, once for Jazzy's aux in).
A few observations and things I've discovered:
1. Some people say you have to swap red & orange fuse lines, others say you don't. Without them swapped, the Parrot's LEDs stay on even with ignition off, so I do need to swap them for my car.
2. I never hear any "goodbye" as they say I should. Not concerned.
3. My subwoofer IS muted by the unit. My sub is connected via the 14-pin harness -- I think it won't mute the sub for those who are using the 8-pin connector.
4. Paired perfectly with my UTStarcom 6700 - great sound quality.

2. I never hear any "goodbye" as they say I should. Not concerned
I noticed this too, I dont get it. Maybe its how our car doesnt retain power when turned off. But anyways, yes, Its not a major concern of mine either.
The only thing I noticed funky, which is probably a problem with my Nokia N80. Once or twice I thought something got disconnected from my radio cause it functioned perfectly, but no sound from anything was working. I drove all the way to work without stereo (90 miles killer haha).
It ended up being my phone was the problem, something about it was active, with the BT connected, hence it muted my stereo or the entire ride. I just cycled the BT on my phone the second time I realized thats what it was. This got it "unstuck".
Just something to look out for.

Well, I have the Retained Accessory Power mod, so I get about 4 mins of retained accessory power after removing the ignition key (or until I lock the car, whichever occurs first). Tried locking the car while still inside to hear the British babe say "goodbye"....but she still doesn't!

AFAIK, parrot provides a generic harness that you'll have to wire up to your particular car wiring ( translation - car's stereo wiring diagram needed and it will involve cutting wires, etc). Parrotkits provides you with plug-and-play harrness made for your specific vehicle that has your stereo compatible connectors. Easier installation and time saver as everything just plugs in, no cutting wires required. For ~$50 that ParrotKits charges for Subaru specific connector I plan to get one and save myself from digging into my car harness.

No, I haven't ordered it yet; I read the description from parrotkits.com and the harness description says "no cutting, etc..". weird. So you're saying that you had to use BOTH harnesses - the one that comes with Parrot in the box and additional one that parrotkits sells ?

Yes, otherwise you would have to cut the factory harness to splice into the BT harness. This is what the Subaru Specific harness does, adapts from Subaru connectors to the generic Parrot connectors.

Are there wires for the pins that traditionally plug into the steering wheel control pins, allowing a splice, or are they blank ?

I believe theres (2) 8 pin connectors that plug into the back of the Radio. One is for power/acc and one is for the speakers. The Parrot harness intercepts these connections and then plugs back into the radio. They fit perfect, trust me. dont go by the pictures.

Short answer — the QCSub-1 adapter cable for Subarus does not include the Subaru square 8-pin plug (for subwoofer, steering wheel buttons, etc.).

So basically I can use both harnesses (between radio and Sub adapter) and run the mute cable to said pin on the radio and it would work, right?
Wondering if the harness from parotkits.com should go before or after the OEM Sub harness connection. Also, the Mute cable goes to which pin on the radio for the unit to Mute and display Phone? Trabbic, where are ya?

Leonardo... if you haven't bought on already ...
yes, the harness is worth it if you want to jus plug in an go. But I want to remove all speaker outputs and leave just the power on the big white plug.. and route all speaker / mute capability via the 8 pin plug.
This (in theory) should allow volume control via the radio and mute the sub..
If you want to trace the wires and tap (VERY doable with the pdf earlier in the thread) you should be fine with the harness that comes with the kit.
But if you want to plug straight in, then the harness is worth it.. but, if your sub is on the 8 pin line, you won't be able to use it.

It looks like you grafted the Subaru adapter kit onto the mute box, in place of the ISO connectors that originally came with the Parrot.
Or does Parrot sell a Subaru wiring kit that connects directly between the Parrot and a Subaru (in place of the ISO wiring harness that they normally supply)?

Kontakty jsou koupený v Elitu, jinak by to byla pěkná drbačka je rozdělávat...
Celkem i s testem asi 4 hodiny práce :DIt looks like you grafted the Subaru adapter kit onto the mute box, in place of the ISO connectors that originally came with the Parrot.
Or does Parrot sell a Subaru wiring kit that connects directly between the Parrot and a Subaru (in place of the ISO wiring harness that they normally supply)?
I'll try to translate while tehac is asleep :) : (it's going to be rough translation though):
Also connected original ISO Subaru connector. Abych tam neměl tolik drátů a 4 konektory navíc (SubOperator- There are 4 connectors ?)
used "original" reduction (connector ? ) Parrot(ISO) - Subaru. Bought from Neužila at Gajdošce (Brno) for 590,-. online it can be found for under 500, - + shipping, etc ... Navíc se u nich dá dobře pokecat a "sem tam" něčemu rozumí
Contacts were bought at Elitu, jinak by to byla pěkná drbačka je rozdělávat.. (SubOperator-since I didn't want to splice wires ?)
Celkem i s testem asi 4 hodiny práce :D I guess tehac will provide proper translation once he's up and online:), hope this isn't too much off
I wonder if Parrot-to-Subaru ISO converter tehac referred to is what ParrotKits is selling in US ...

From what i did.. the new harness from parrotkits.com pluges directly into the subaru conenctor from the car, and outputs everything to ISO connectors for the parrot modules.
One harness is pure mute & power... the other contains nothing but speaker inputs.
It then has a connector to take all the 'output' from the parrot module and plug back into the radio .
From my experiments, you can bypass the parrot mute module, and keep only the power line and BT module. You can then plug into pins 3,4 & 8 on the back of the radio (bottom 8 pin harness, under the hvac) to use the built in radio functionality. i just sourced some pins that will work, so I hope to try this soon.
The parrot kit as is works nice... but there is an annoying pop everytime the sound is cut out from input and the parrot kit audio is played (prompts, etc) ... and the volume for the call is controlled exclusively from the parrot module, not the radio. My workaround eliminated all that.

Sorry guys no time, going to a vacation.
I will put some more info in September - will connect subwoofer and I think there will be an "upgrage" of the current wires (handsfree) ;)
No need for connecting two more connectors
You can look at the subwoofer at: http://www.subaru.com.cz/viewtopic.php?t=536

Yeah ordered mine last night, will post pics for install. I have the SI drive so I dunno where I am gonna put the controller, probably hide it somewhere.
Gitster - did you every post pics of your install? If you haven't, could you? I'm curious about Bluetooth for my car.
