View Full Version : Meet at Palisades Mall Saturday Dec 4th!!!

carman493

we should all meet in the commuter lot in the back..

if you are coming from the thruway north, get off the exit for the mall, make a left at the light at the end of the ramp, go through your first light, go over the highway, when you get to the mall ring road, make a right, keep going til your frist parking lot on your RIGHT hand side, thats the commuter lot, we can meet in there.

if you are coming from the thruway south, get off the exit, make a right off the ramp and stay to your right, go through your first and second lights, your first parking lot on the right will be the commuter lot....

for some reason i believe its lot j, but dont quote me, i could be wrong.

SATURDAY Dec. 4th!!! SEE YOU ALL THERE!!:)
Someone please post this on NASIOC since for some odd reason my account was never put in force. Also if there are any other subaru sites out there, please post it, we can get a bunch of people together, if its nice out we can go back to my house and wash cars if the moving people arent there.

I thought this was supposed to be Saturday? And everyone remember to put your LegacyGT.com stickers on so we can show the Nasicock'ers where the cool people hang out ;)
I have 3 I can bring with me if anyone was foolish enough not to get one yet ;)

Jedi, can you change the date of this meet here? I'll have someone change it on the nasioc thread.

carman493
11-21-2004, 08:42 PM
I fixed it....
btw anyone can come, just hope a lot of LGT's show up, if my girlfriend is off, she'll be there in her crossfire, ill try to get some other suby's non LGT's, since I dont know of any yet, to come...also ill try to get my buddy with his 11 second supercharged jeep grand cherokee to come and hang out, he'll be doing all my subaru work for me. if we have time, we can stop by my house and wash cars/hang out, maybe go for a cruise, i guess we'll just play it by ear, maybe we could all go to some local restaurant and have late lunch/early dinner kind of thing.

you take the nj tpke to exit 11, Garden State Parkway, take that north to the end, stay to your right at the fork at the end, and follow signs for the NYS Thruway South (East) towards the Tappan Zee Bridge/White Plains. Get off at exit 12, palisades mall, stay to your right off the exit, go through 2 lights, and the parking lot will be the first lot on the right. If you have any trouble, call me at 914-419-3731 mike

So I guess I will be traveling the furthest? I'll try to make it out earlier so that I can see what's around the area (and give myself some "got lost" time). I hope it doesnt rain, I hate standing out in the rain, since I do that already for autocrosses.

Worst comes to worse and it rains I'm sure that we can move it to the indoor parking lot, but lets stick with the comuter lot and burn that bridge if we get to it.

If it rains, everyone call me, we could either go to my house or we can all go somewhere to hang out....restaurant, pool hall, something like that to chat....there is the underground parking garage but it would be mobbed, same with the covered parking at the nanuet mall, but lets hope for no rain!!

Legacy05GT
11-29-2004, 08:27 AM
someone mentioned Cheesecake Factory.... they have really good food. It might be tough getting a table on a saturday during the shopping season.... maybe not...

I'd also be down for a BBQ place, bar or steakhouse.

JessterCPA

I have a feeling getting INTO the mall to eat somewhere is going to be tough. Cheesecake Factory has real good food. I have never been to the Palisades one, but the one in Riverside Square Mall is often a 2 hour wait. And that's not during Christmas. Anyone know of the options up there? I know there is a Dave & Busters in the mall. Rt59 has got to have a lot of stuff, but that means we are gonna have to drive. Do we have a "rain" option plan? See you all there!

ok a few things, Rain/snow we will be there some what early so there are covered and underground lots, and underground dosent fill up as quick. As for food the Cheesecake Factory sounds great, good food, large portions, great bar, and reasonaby priced and have a guets or 2 comming so we are at least a party of 10 so cf is not a good option. Yhe mall also has TGI fridays, Chillis, Outback(lets not be partial you outback guys lol), Don Pablos, and a large food court. I say we hang at the bar in TGIF's and get a bunch of finger food.

as for food, i think we should meet and then decide....there are so many places to go that arent in the mall...i would rather not eat at the mall now that i think about it...there are several sushi places, an outback up in suffern, a chilis up the road, a really good chinese restaurant in new city, a great italian place in baluvelt about 3 miles from the mall, and right near bill kolb subaru, there is also a mongolian place that has a great lunch special near the mall, as well as several diners....let me know..

Well, I'm not so sure I can get there by 1, but for sure by 2:30,

so let me know for sure where you'll be heading to after you get together.

In the many, many times I've been in the mall.

I have no idea where the commuter lot is...

Much less a "hump".

Name a store and make it easy for me, eh?

Oh, another thing...

For anyone who needs driving directions...

Driving Directions Here. (http://www.palisadescenter.com/webpages/directions.asp)

There's also a dive of a Bar/Restuarant on the Left about 2 Miles North of the mall on Rt. 303 called "Pie Man".

Or if you drive about another 3 more miles on 303 North into the town of Valley Cottage, a real nice place called "Ricks Club American".

Real nice place, GREAT RIBS!

I sure would. That's why I chipped in. I'm just saying he was asking for it. That's exactly why I didn't go too far when I was taking my turn in the lot. I figured I wouldn't look too cool if I rolled a tire off the rim in front of everyone. I never thought about doing something like he did. Then again, I didn't go pulling that kind of stuff next to a pole and a huge curb.

Nice meeting everyone! Granted that I showed up late, but I made my trip COMPLETELY WORTH IT by stopping at my friend's workplace *cough* strip club *cough* on my way home at Baltimore to say "hi" to her and all her coworkers ;) Oh yea, you guys are all cool too.

oh yea, I didn't meet the guy in the red WRX personally, but if he plans to do "parking" lot stunts, he should invest some time learning some autox driving techniques.. and for those that think Auto-x is boring, try doing stuff like this with your car:

Unless you guys have some serious car control like these guys, I dont think it's boring when people can cheer you on for such awesome control.

i agree he bit off more then he could chew.

i thought that two of you at the same time was pushing it.

damn you "drift kings", you.
Yeah we were pushing it pretty hard and taking turns in the drift area gave the crowd something to watch at all times. Good rule of thumb, don't try to put on a show after to cars at the same time and try to top it esecialy with re92s. :D So whats up with a January meet same place and get our snow drift on lol.

I hope the guy that BIT THE CURB will show up at another one of our meets a little mellower with better tires, hey I need better tires.

We had some nice mini drifting going on, I thought. I'm hoping someone took pix of us out there- we stayed out long enough to let people get their cameras out. In particular, I'm wondering what my car looks like leaning into corners with the higher suspension. About the time I said enough is enough, my tires (stock RE92's for winter) were getting warmed up and were sliding much easier. At the end I had some nice fishtailing going on. I may have to look into Autocrossing- that was a lot of fun. I kept mine in first the whole time and didn't go over 4 grand or so- even so, the tires did get to melting and what not. One thing that was strange is as I would go around, the front tires would grab traction every now and then and kind of "bark" as they bit in. I'm thinking maybe this is the higher suspension, which is floatier too, putting weight on and off of the front of the car.

It did look pretty sick let me tell you and i am wondering the same thing. So I guess we can be called the drift kings now lol

He was a cool cat and we shouldn't rag on him to bad. I think that he suffered enough emotional abuse with all of us taking pics os his bruised baby.

as sarcastic as it may sound, none of it was even close to drifting.. I didnt even see the infamous opposite lock at any given time.. all I saw was nothing but trouble coming up. :p

Not my style to do things that are not legit.. it looks better when there are cones out there.. besides, I didnt drive 500 miles to be an ass in front of everyone. Next time when the Penn-Jersey SCCA host an event at Giant's Stadium, I'll take you guys out in a ride and you can tell me if I am drifting or not.

No it wasn't drifting but it was fun and i even saw trble comming thats why i stopped doing it relativly quickly. I have to agree I am suprised you didn't show some of your skills Keefe, but next event up this way let me know I really want to see how you drive in a track type setting.

It's more fun when there are rules to go with.. I was not impressed with the IS300 guy just doing donuts.. anyone can do that with a RWD car and just rev it up and drop the clutch and turn the wheel to the left.. It would have been more amazing if that IS300 driver did have skills that are taught at www.thestuntfactory.com where they teach their students to become stunt drivers.. you should see this video of the instructor driving a ford mustang straight ON towards a PERSON standing still, then the instructor would pitch the car just slightly off-line and would do drifting-donuts only a few feet away from the person standing in the middle of the circle..

http://www.bobbyoresports.com/360.jpg

Now that's impressive

eventually, I will take a Stunt Driving class and learn 180s and 360s on automatic and manual cars. But I still have a lot to learn about just normal driving dynamics. The Stunt Factory is located in New Jersey which the last I recall is a Bobby Ore affiliated school. I think the classes range about $2k for 3 to 5 days of driving practice.

see more at:
http://www.bobbyoresports.com/courses.htm

btw, Bobby Ore Stunt Driving school in California is the same school where all the actors and stunt drivers goto for the Hollywood films such as "Gone in 60 seconds" and "the Fast and the Furious".

^^wow I want to go to that as well, too bad they only teach front and rear drive but you can get an allwheel to act like either one to a degree.^^

it's still a car with four wheels and a steering wheel.. it's a matter of the funds to dish out $2k up to $15k for stunt driving school.

If you want to see some AWD stunt driving, go rent Jackie Chan's movie "Who am I" and "Operation Thunderbolt".. Older JDM Evos can do pivot-center-axis donuts that make RWD jealous.. I would love to see some RWD car do a 180 all in a space of just TWO parking spots.

The autox events probably wont start back up until March.. but I'll keep posting of all the events I will be doing on the east coast, including track events under the Motorsports topic section.

there's always next year, as I will be starting out my 5th year in autocrossing and hope to learn more about how to go faster around the course without pushing the car harder. It's not hard to drive like an idiot.. it's mastering car control that I am looking for.. it's pretty cool when you can neutral steer the car using the throttle and just let the car glide around a turn. I have been through a lot of those moments with the WRX and I expect to do the same in the GT.. nothing like letting the car go around a turn with both of your hands off the wheel and waving out the window for style points!

That's sick I didn't think that was possable, but after seeing what some of these guys in Japan do like standing half out of the car and spinning it hey i guess more can be done then i thought.
