I did do some searches on this so apologies if I missed it. I didn't see anything specifically for Tein Basic coilovers and what size wheel we can fit.
i'm rather naiive about a lot of this as well so bear with me.
I have Tein Basics on my car, and it dropped it quite a bit. The stock 17" wheels fit fine with not much gap, i'm not sure if an 18" wheel would look ok though (or even fit). I have not had a chance to see how much higher I can make the car by adjusting the Teins. They are setup the same way I got them installed by TDC and the rear is slightly lower than the front, but I like the way it looks now.
My budget is rather limited so I was not sure if there was any other way I should go. Note that i have no intentions of putting my car on a track, i like to drive fast but not crazy fast. I drive quite a bit and have no problems with the firm ride the Basics give my car, but would not want to go firmer (my fear is this will happen if I jack up the ride height?) My point being, I'm interested in mild performance but also like the look of an 18" wheel - just not sure how it fits with the suspension mods i have.
I've read about all the spring swaps but it seems this can cause the stock struts to be rather bouncy, and I'm not sure I want to spend more money buying aftermarket struts at this point (if i didn't have the Teins I prolly would).
So my options as i see them are:
-Keep the Teins, and stick with a 17" wheel
-Keep the Teins, and if possible adjust them to fit an 18" wheel
-Ditch the Teins and go back to stock suspension to fit an 18" wheel
-Ditch the Teins and go with some other option to fit an 18" wheel.
I think the car looks ok now lowered with the 17's but I'd hate to spend money on aftermarket wheels only to find 18's would have been the way to go.
Lots of rather vague questions here I'm sure trying to type this in between office visits from the man....
