View Full Version : The Great LegacyGT.com Fundraiser 06!!

Well folks... it's that time of year again!!! We had remarkable success last year and raised over $1400!!!
This year the site is bigger and we have many more members. Our goal this year is to hand over a check for $2000.00 to the American Red Cross!
LAST YEARS THREAD (http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23777&highlight=marco)
THE AMERICAN RED CROSS (http://www.redcross.org/)
Total collected thus far: $3170.26
I would like to take a minute and tell you why we have decided to donate to the Red Cross.
-Each year, the American Red Cross responds immediately to more than 70,000 disasters, including house or apartment fires (the majority of disaster responses), hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, hazardous materials spills, transportation accidents, explosions, and other natural and man-made disasters.
On top of that, they serve a vital role in helping our soldiers overseas and here in the states.
While I served in the Marine Corps a fellow Marine in my Platoon lost his mother to a car accident while I based in Manama, Bahrain. The Red Cross not only relayed the message to this Marine, but also paid for his plane ticket home and helped with some of his other travel expenses.
While I worked as a Police Officer I saw the Red Cross put multiple families in Hotels at no cost to them while there homes were being rebuilt.
I know that in the past the Red Cross has been there for me and I hope and pray that they will be there in the future. Lets all reach down in our pockets and donate what we can to help this great organization!!
Who knows.... maybe one day it will be YOU who needs the aid of the RED CROSS.
We are accepting excepting any dollar amount donation.
If you would like to be entered in to the raffle to win one of the following prizes that have been donated by our gracious site Vendors, you must donate a minimum of $20.
Thank you all for your donations!!

Its great to see an organized effort to help a great cause. I know many of you can give up $20 for a special cause this holiday season. Heck I spent 3x that much at restaurants this weekend, while there are others out there looking for food. Even our small online community can make a difference.

Donated. Good luck with the fundraiser!!!
yes, enter as often as you like. bolded and made red the comment 'minimum is $20' - per ticket.
last year, we had several awesome people who donated who didn't want to enter the raffle or want recognition....quite a bit of money actually! :) I'm collecting the funds, so please make it clear what your preference is and I promise to honor your anonymity should you request it.
:D

P.S. In the interest of full disclosure, we are collecting via a Paypal link - I've got a vendor account, so there's no limit on the number of transactions (a problem last year) and I can accept MC/VISA, but the downside to that is they take 3% for the privilege. The net total of funds will be donated after the raffle is closed. None of us are happy about the 3% to Paypal, but that's the price of making this easy on everyone.

Thats a good point :(
Feel free to donate $20.60 to cover the charges
actually, it's $.88 in fees on a $20 donation if you belong to Paypal. If you just use the link, it's $1.08. :(
I'll try to round up and donate the difference that's lost to fees once this is all done. ;)

Yup.
Generosity like that does not go unnoticed.
how many tickets are sold? i.e. as of right now what are people's chances of winning an item?
not sure of the number, I'll run that once everything is done. So far, just shy of $600, so approx 30 'tickets' so far.
remember, the order that tickets are picked determine the order that winners get to choose from the price pot, so buying multiple tickets gives you better odds at being top dog (like the NFL draft). remember - you can only win once and you have to keep your item for at least 30 days before selling or trading (as a courtesy to our generous vendors) - hope this is fair since you choose what you want vs. last year where it was totally random. :icon_mrgr

I wasnt talking about donating for the red cross, I meant becoming a donating member for the site, but I see what you mean.
No offense intended, and yes of course not everyone can afford to donate.
I just feel that if you can afford an LGT you can afford 25 bucks a year to support a site you love. There are plenty of guys who spend a ton on mods, and then dont donate.

So if I want to donate more than the minimum $20 and get multiple tickets, do I have to send each donation separately, or can I send it as one paypal payment and it'll just get divided up to be 1 ticket for every $20 in my donation? It could take a while to send all those payments is why I'm asking. :icon_wink Plus, I'd throw some extra on to cover the fees.
Thanks to the vendors for supporting this effort! Open up your wallets this Christmas fellow members!

You can send 1 donation in multiples of $20 with a note to that effect. Covering fees is a great help also :)
