looking at the specs it seems like it should fit but its gonna be my first rim buy and i just wanted to make sure..

@ tirerack.com, this wheel didnt show up in LGT but showed in 04 STi.. (i believe 04 STi and LGT have same bolt pattern.. ? correct.. ?)

are there any special procedures that i need to take to put those rims on.. ??

sorry if its a dumb question but im hella new to this stuff.. LOL

oh.. and the tires will be put on the rims and they'll come balanced..

ill post pics as soon as i get them.. LOL..

well.. tirerack called me the day after i ordered them and they kept on telling me it won't fit on LGT.. i told them it would for sure and they keep on telling me it'll rub..

i got 225/45/18 (stockys are 215/45/18) and didnt think they were very wide.. i actually was going to get 235s but thought 225s should be enough..

tirerack also kept on telling me to get 225/40/18 instead of 225/45/18 since it'll ride taller.. but my stockies have 45mm profile already and didnt want to go lower.. hmm.. why should change in width make overall diameter taller.. ?? hm..

anyways..

i know its pretty close with +50mm offset.. but will they rub.. ??

i guess ill find out when i put them on.. but just worried for now..

Height is a % function of width, so a 45 series tires side wall is 45% of the tire width. So going to a wider tire with teh same sidewal ratio will give you a taller tire. A 225/45 WILL be taller than a 215/45

did they still ship out the rims for u?

oh shit.. i didnt know that.. LOL

learned something new.. haha..

but 215 & 225s should not be hugely different so i guess it shouldn't matter too much..

anyways.. they ARE going to ship them out.. so excited!! :icon_mrgr

ARGH!!!

got my rims at my door last night.. put them on but was too dark to take good pics..

anyways..

i found out this morning that THEY RUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DAMN.. this is why i asked a second time to make sure they fit FINE..

read the faq please, and yes it fits.
"ur FAQ is NOT perfect, and yes it rubs."

please dont just assume i didnt read ur FAQ.. there's reason why i ask a second time.. i was pretty sure u didnt try putting on every single sizes..

anyways..

it looks ugly with stock springs now.. i need to lower my car..

my car almost looks like an outback now with higher profile tires.. LOL

i shouldve gotten 225/40/18 instead of 225/45/18..

ah well.. ill post pics ASAP..

Sucks that they rub, the FAQ list never says that a 225/45/18 will fit, it says a 225/40/18 will fit. Keefe was refering to you question if the rim will fit, and with the proper tire it does, he was not commenting about the tire size.

well.. its not the profile of the tire that makes my wheels rub.. its the OFFSET of the rims.. my wheels stick out too much with +50mm..

also, i didnt lower my car yet.. so increase in less than one half an inch (the difference between 225/45/18 and 225/40/18) shouldnt cause my wheels to rub as long as i had the right offsets..

im not blaming keefe for my rubbing rims.. i just didnt like the fact that he assumed that i didnt read when i was only trying to double check..

its not like it rubs bad anyway.. it rubs only when i go over big dips at speeds.. im not sure if i can lower it as much as i wanted to tho.. hm.. maybe after i get lower profile tires.. then i might be able to get springs.. but ah well.. pics coming soon~

+50mm is not that much offset that would make it rub, and it doesn't stick out all that much. In fact, it should only stick out 3/4 inch more that stock wheels.

Tire choice in combination of wheel offset/width wil determine whether it will rub or not. And remember, just because a tire is xxx/xx/xx, the actually width of the tires are not consistent across different manufacturer. Some will be a bit wider than the others, learned from personal experiences and from friends who works at tire shop.

Which wheels rub? front of back? Your alignment number?

You can get your wheels to fit, once you have all your info. Feel free to search for my post on my setups. I tried 3 different setups already, and all have offset that sticks out more than yours. So I am puzzled as to why yours rub... I am sure we can all help you if you can quantify the nature of the rubbing, like specific conditions (turning? big dip?), and which area specifically rubs.

Looking at you pic, once you lower your car a bit you will gain some negative camber, and all your rubbing problem will go away.

You should check this out: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html

It will tell you the specs on your tire sizes compared to stock. 245/40/18 was close to the stock spec b.
