Anyone just a wheel weight sticky is a good idea? We have countless posts of people showing pics of their new wheels or wheels for sale. And we always have the question "how much do they weigh"? One location for this would be great!
BTW...Subydude used to have a Rota wheel weight chart (although it didn't have all the sizes) where did it go?
Anyone know the exact weight of the 17 x 7 '05/'06 GT wheel? I believe it's in the 19-20lbs. range.
Anyone know for a fact the weight of the Tarmac II 18 x 7.5?

Tarmac II 18x7.5 is 20.5lb ea

I don't know about the Stock LGT wheels, but I just weighed my stock OBXT wheel on our postal scale & it came in at 20.45lb.
~edit~
My new wheels = Rota Torque: 17x8, 5x100, 48mm offset = 19.05lb
So, I shaved about a pound and a half off each wheel. :) Unfortunately, the truth is I probably still increased my rotating inertia because I bet most of the loss in mass is on the spokes while the wider rim puts more mass out at the outside diameter. Be aware that mass does not mean everything. Also, since you're considering a bigger dia. rim, the mass of your new tires is important too.
~edit2~
Assuming you go from 17" rims to 18" rims and they're exactly the same mass: you will increase your rotating inertia by ~15%. So, to keep the same rotating inertia, you'd need to loose ~13% of the mass off stock rims.
Probably not a huge difference either way & I love the look, so who cares? :D

with the tarmacII at 18 x 7.5 (20lbs.) and 225/40/18 (23lbs.) tires i'd be looking at 43lbs. each. stock is pretty much the exact same weight, just larger at 25.1" over 24.6" diameter.
loosing 2 lbs. on an 18" wheel is difficult unless you've got the $$$ for a forged wheel.

just have to figure out if the look is more important or a slight performance edge.....hmmmm don't autocross.....hmmmm dunno....but damn these would look good.....

If you're not racing professionally and the performance "edge" is relatively small, I would say go for the look. I didn't even check the exact weights before I purchased because I knew they were close & the rest I just didn't care about! :D

Oakos have weights for most Rota out there. They even have the weight differences for the same wheel with different color. In general darker the finish the heavier it's going to be.

As rule of thumb 1 lb saving on rotational mass is like 4 lbs of stationary mass. For example the stock wheel/tire combo comes in at ~43 lbs. The 17x7 Kosei K1-TS weights 13.7 lbs and ContiExtremeContact weights ~20 lbs for 225/45. So that's ~34 lbs for the combo or 9 lbs saving per corner. 9x4x4=144 lbs! That's like the difference between driving with another person and driving by yourself. It's definitely going to be a noticeable difference. BTW, besides all the accel/handling/braking benefits, less weight also = better fuel economy.

I weighed one of mine and got 19.0 lb. on a scale w/ 0.5 lb. resolution, and I believe that's pretty accurate.

vs

Are in complete disagreement with each other.
Rota SDR's are 16.5(wheel weights) and 18.6(suby dude) on the other and 19.30 L on Oaks
WTF these lists mean nothing.

Yes this sucks. I was wishing for actual measurements by people that actually meaured them on a scale or #'s from the manufacture.
BTW....ideally we'd have a new thread that's a sticky...just weights. I think this post has gotten postal!
^+1, I don't trust most of the wheel weight info out there on the web

if you want to be safe, weigh them yourself or take the highest weight you can find on teh web. ;)
I started focusing more on pics and manufacturer links and less on specs because it's so tough to find info that can be trusted. :)
I have a 75 lb capacity postal scale.
I just weighed a stock LGT 5 spoke rim (17x7, I thought they were 7.5) with a worn RE92 and it weighed a few ounces over 40 lbs. Bridgestone website says the tire weighs 23 lbs which would make the rim a surprising 17+ lbs.
I also weighed the 17x7 BBS RK's and they were almost exactly 18 lbs.
I weighed the stock 5 spoke OB rims but I forget what they weighed but think it was 23 lbs as the stock assembly was 48 lbs and tire = 25.

Enkei RPM2 17x7 16.9lbs.
I'll try to weigh my Team Dynamic Monza's when I put snow tires on them.

Kosei K1-TS 17x7 ... weighed them and they're closer to 14.2 lbs (with the valve stem and centering ring). They came with pretty heavy lugnuts so I purchased myself some lightweight 5zigen aluminum ones.
