So I dealt with Ollie Rocha at Don Docksteader Subaru. We made a deal for a black Legacy 2.5GT Ltd for 37,115 + fees/tax. My car should be arriving in roughly a month but I'm hoping earlier! By the way, anyone looking for a 98 2.5 RS???? I'm selling :p
37 thousand huh?

That's 37 Canadian...actually quite a good deal seeing how the MSRP is 41,600K up here. I'm getting my GT limited sedan for 37,800 including all fees/freight/wheel locks/floor mats etc etc. $35,400 was the base price before the fees and everything.

Wow- it's really mean of Subaru to charge you guys 37 or 41, when we Americans get the car for 27.

Good deal.
I managed to see my first one in Canada (aside from mine obviously) in Calgary on Saturday. White one on 11th ave. Don't suppose that was you....?

They are accounting for the exchange rate?
And yeah this is for a sedan...
gmorriss...sounds like you got a really good deal, but i think cars are just generally more expensive to purchase in BC. My price was basically 38,800+14% total.

They make you guys use different money to buy the car?

Those are great deals guys. I paid close to that for my non-Limited GT wagon back in April. I knew I was paying more than if I waited but patience is not one of my strengths.

Ummm....actually, we do have our own currency up here.:)

I agree. I bought mine in June and I WISH I could have waited. Everytime I see a new commercial with the smoking rates, I kick myself (lightly), not to mention I paid a meager 800 under MSRP.

Now that winter is coming I guess I better go buy a new dogsled and patch up the igloo.
Make us use different money up here...sheesh, sometimes I think we're on a different planet than the rest of north america.;)

Wow that are some great deals that you guys got! The MSRP on subaru website is $36,495 for the 2.5 GT sedan and $40,295 for the 2.5 GT Limited sedan. I am considering this great car. Hope i can get these sweet axx deals that you guys got!

Great to hear. Yup, Ollie Rocha is the man to look for when buying your car (dondock steader - marine drive / cambie). Nice guy, and never that high pressure strategy other salesman use. We have also purchased from him before.

Hmmm... too bad I didn't know about this last week!
I went to DD and the sales guy I met there was not very willing to negotiate. The lowest he would go was 39500 so I went to Wolfe in Langley and got a Red GT Ltd wagon (mt) for 38,300.00.
$37,115 is an awesome deal. Congratulations!

You guys must be pretty good negotiators! I am guessing that those prices would be right around invoice for a GT Ltd sedan....
I myself am thinking about going for a GT sedan (6'2", too tall for the sunroof). I have a car cost report that says invoice is about $33000. MSRP is $36500.
I was going to ask for $34000, but if you guys are getting $37100 for a Ltd, maybe I should be asking for invoice instead? Anybody have an opinion as to what my chances would be? I'm in Calgary.

I just got back from Calgary and I have to say I will pray for you!
I went to the dealer on Macloed trail and they didn't sound like they would be dealing for much.
BTW I was trying to find a used TS for my sister there if u have 1.

Don't go to the dealer on McLoed, Centaur sucks big time. I went to Subaru of Calgary on barlow just south of 16th ave NE. They share a building with a Jaguar dealer...might explain the amazing service department. Talk to Lynn Benson, she was great to deal with and knows Subarus better than any salesperson I have talked to. They have a red GT non-limited that I think they are willing to deal on...it is a demo though so I'm not sure how you feel about that. The also have the lighter blue and maybe black in the gt non-limited.

An interesting development.... Yesterday I got a call from the dealer telling me my car was in and asked if I wanted an immobilizer installed. I said isn't it standard... the brochure says it is.
They said that was a misprint! So I checked the web site and asked popngear if his came with the immobilizer. He confirmed that it did (Thanks!) so I called back the dealer.
Then they said they had received some earlier wagons without it onboard and it should be no problem since mine was a Sedan.... Errr... I ordered a wagon.
So they got the wrong car in for me!
It is all taken care of now and they were really good about the mistake. Very apologetic and there was no question about the immobilizer (it will be on the car!). I don't think they will be making much profit off of this deal but they should still make a bit.
cheers,
JdanS

I had two dealers here locally that made that "mistake." I find it hard when you say wagon all the way through and they confirm, but in the end it's a sedan ;\
Good luck with your new wagon!

Flamebo, Both of the cars mentioned in this thread were purchased in the Lowermainland.
I got mine at Wolfe in Langely and I would not hesitate to go there again. Talk to Gerry Kosterman and he should be able to help you out. There is also a fellow at Don Docsteader who people have had good luck with.
Good luck,

Whopz.... right, Don Docsteader is @ lowermainland!
hm.. I wonder if they will give me a good deal in Richmond or not... haha probably not... they never give people good deals in Richmond! My dad is actually already leasing the Outback 2.5XT in Richmond Subaru already, so I was just thinking if he would give us a good deal or not since it will be our 3rd straight car dealing with them haha... we leased the Outback Limited from them 4 years ago! and we switched the newer one hehe this april or something! This year I got into SFU, so my family needs another car so that we don't have to keep sharing and asking for each other schedule! Anyways I'm asking my dad for a Legacy 2.5GT 5MT. After hearing you guys get the Limited version @ that price*thats like what 1000 more than the MRSP of the normal GT version?*, I'm tempted to try getting a limited version for a good deal hehe... nothing wrong getting a moon roof and electronic adjustable seats! Oh yea the deals you guys had was it a one time payment? Cause I've heard from some people that dealers usually cut you a deal if you do a 1 time payment! *1 time payment = just pay for the whole thing right away ; no down payment, and monthly payment*
But before all this I've got to get through my mom first, since she's kinda worried about me driving it, since after all it is not a weak car. *even though I've already been driving the Outback XT for like 3 months now* ~.~ blah
