I really hope some vender or Computer Science major reads this.

Please, PLEASE come up with some hack to our Kenwood-based navigation systems that allows us to modify some settings and add features. I'll pay good money and I'm sure others will too. On my list in no specific importance order are:

Disable EULA/disclaimer at startup
Enable DVD play
Backup camera integration
On gauges screen, add Boost, EGT, Voltage, Oil Pressure, Torque, and Power gauges PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!! (Biggest request)
Put "END GUIDANCE" button on Main Screen during navigation. It's really stupid where it is now.
Put Volume Adjust button for navigation audio on main screen too.Again, if anyone who has this capability is reading this, I'll pay good money!

for about $2000 total (hardware+software+installation) you can have a decent carputer that does everything you listed. your oem NAVI system is just a fancy computer system with very limited features. ;)

Disable EULA/disclaimer at startup
+ 1 million billion... Nothing annoys me more then having to agree every time I start the car...

Enable DVD play
Backup camera integration
There is a device available that splices into the nav system to allow one to intergrate DVD / backup camera onto the OEM screen. Here is a link (http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29195)to the thread.

Cheers,
Ryan

right, but the point is they want the intergration of these features INTO their oem system and not to hack the dashboard to put a new screen in, etc. etc.

What about letting us use the NAVI while moving?

i know, but that's kinda like... installing powered rear windows on a SRT4 and making it AWD/RWD... :icon_lol:

Here are a whole bunch of options on the KNA DV3200 from the German site.

Somebody smarter then me, PLEASE PLEASE figure out how to hack into this thing. I know it has to have more functionality and program-ability. There's even an available remote.

Anybody speak German?

There's also a great thread at mp3car.com about RGB input into a similar Kenwood Navi: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=60261&highlight=kenwood+navigation

KNA-DV3200 (non-Scooby modified) found:

http://kenwood.nl.nt.ims.hr/languages/EN/support/manuals/KNA-DV3200_ENG.pdf

If they take it down, I have a local copy.

One of the features is definately voice activated commands. Problem is, you need to buy the Kenwood mic to enable it.

Well You can get a few off the list with:
http://www.avelectronic.com/NavigationVid-Switcher.htm#Main%20Features

I found it a while back and a few members have verified that it works! Just get the one for the Tribeca :D

As for the other things, I wish I could hack the software like that :D

Yep. Thanks man. Seen that.

It's not exactly what I want though. I'm determined to get my exact way here especially because I know it's possible. Stay tuned.

Can anybody tell me how to convert/select /change the japanese writing on my navi to english pretty please. Everything is written in japanese so I don't know what to press to convert. The car is a 2003 BL5...

Seeing as you have a JDM model, shipped straight from japan, I would say you would have to get the USDM navi DVD and install that.

Thats my only idea. Good luck.

Anyone figure out the gauge integration and all the other goodies that the thread starter posted?

Not very useful for the Subaru people. Have a look-see nonetheless, if and when you find time.

http://www.coastaletech.com/LOCKPICK_MAIN.htm

Really good stuff. Their hacks are first rate. Not much money hacking quirky, antiquated low volume Kenwoods, they don't do Subarus.

I hope that changes.

in another thread somebody mentioned a product that displayed gauges using a video input. in that cause just like we can use a backup camera we could potentially display gauges on the navi

You can use the aux input to display any source including movies and gauges, yes. You just can't tap into the OEM sensors, Denso software, etc. that displays currently on the DDX. You can get OBDII source info from places like AutoTap and the like and feed them into there.

It's not possible 100%
Your navi unit can't read US dvd disk.
JDM navi unit looks like the same as USDM, but it's totally different inside.
You need to replace factory installed dvd unit with USDM one.
And you can't change your monitor language to english too.
