Hey guys, just checking in. As of last saturday (9/11), i took delivery of a brand spankin new '05 legacy GT. the only extra goodies i got with it was the group 1 package.
i had been researching the hell out of this car for over a couple months now. i fell in love with it almost immediately the first time i saw subie's commercials for it.
when i rolled it off the lot, it had 9 miles on it, and a full tank. another full tank later, here i am with 510 miles...and looking to fill her up again.
i'm coming from previously owning a jeep all through out college, and the smooth ride, the shatload of power the GT has, is definitely a warm welcome.
it's been hard keeping it under 4k rpm for the 1st 1,000rpm's.
i have thrown it around tight turns, and it just sticks to the road, as if it's saying 'what, that's it? that's all you got?'
all in all, i'm overwhelmingly pleased with the decision i made to get this car.
anyway, back to lurking around on this board....carry on :D

Even though I see my car all the time on this forum, I still like to reaffirm the sleek appearance of my car as well :D

funny you mentioned that. i admit, i've gone up to, and a little past5k rpm, but that was mostly due to me missing a shift, or forgetting that i had it in sport mode, but in either case, i was only in that range momentarily.
and as far as lurking...i actually just found this board tonite. i just randomly typed legacygt.com in and this board showed up. i'm glad i found it. looks like it's a good place to learn the more intimate details about my GT's innards

which is why i've only done it on dry pavement. dont worry, i didnt get overambitious, as it is still a new car, and i was aware from what i've read that the stock tires were meh. but nonetheless it's a blast to drive!

Well, I think he means the stock tires suck on dry pavement. :D And he's right, RE-92s are nearly worthless as far as lateral grip goes. But it does make it easier to swing the rear out. With sticky tires it wouldn't be so easy.

hmmm, well then...maybe i'm not trying hard enough
either way, i love the handling of this car!!!!
since i'm here, if you guys do so, how long do you warm your Legacy up before driving it out? since this the first car i've had that has a turbo in it, i made sure i did some research about taking car of a turbo charged engine. it's nice that you can turn the car off and not have to let it idle for a while to cool the turbo down before shutting it off...ok i'm rambling. warm up time necessary?

Well, I don't have a Legacy yet but I don't think you should let it idle in place for more than 15-30 seconds since letting it go any longer can have detrimental effects. Still, I think the above rule only applies to older cars . . . I thought modern cars didn't need a "warm-up" period.
If you have to though, the best way to warm up a car is . . . to drive it. Idling really is not an effective way to warm up a car. Since the engine isn't operating at it's peak temperature excessive idling can eventually lead to build-ups in cylinder walls and on spark plugs.
Also, a good rule to keep in mind is that over 10 seconds of idling uses up more fuel than restarting the engine. So if you're not in traffic, just turn off the car.

and the quagmire avatar just sweetens the deal.
alright, for those who are still tuning in, here are pics of my baby. i took a couple before i jammed out to work, and a couple when i got home/before i went and worked out. broadband people, now is the time to put that bandwidth to use, as i'm too tired to resize.
the GT looks alright, considering my craptastic detailing, and a day on the road...
so without further adieu....
son of a bitch, where'd my pics go? :?:
hang on, give me a moment...
let me know if these show up or not
