I just bought a Legacy GT-B. It's got STi stuff all over it. Anyone know about what this is about? Pics follow:

Are you asking what Sti is?
If so, it is subaru technik international. A tuning arm of Subaru like M for BMW.
I am not familiar with your GT-B, so I dont know if it actually has Sti components, or if the previous owner just stuck badges on to make it look like it does.

I know what STi is. I'm not that dull! Ha! And, I mean no sarcasm. I love this car. It's fairly quick and handles like a dream. I bought it a month ago, but I went on a "business trip" the day after. I just got back. So, I've been thinking about it. What I've learned is that STi had nothing to do with Legacies in 1999. Is that correct? Are these just badges. And if so, there's alot of them. I just want to know something about the car. It came from Northern Japan. I know that. The previous owner did nothing to it but put those rims on itl. (Something I'm thinking of changing.) The only things on it that don't appear stock are the Blitz blow-off valve, Trust cat-back, some kind of WAI, and GReady turbo timer. Oh, and there is this Apexi Boost gauge. The hood seems to aluminum. (Is that stock?) and the grill and ground effects probably are not stock.
I just want to learn more about the car. I'd also like to learn how to get more power out of it.

Funny! If it weren't for the LOL, I'd be hurt.
I probably don't deserve it....yet. But, I sure do like this Subaru. And, normally I'm a Nissan guy. (Gasp!)
But, one can't deny the all-wheel drive. My old Nissan was a terror when it came to power. I just couldn't get it to the pavement. LOL

Where are you from, you posted in Japan forum, so are you Japanese? I would suggest joining a local club and meeting guys who know all about the GT-B.
When I was in Japan, I saw quite a few of them around, very nice cars indeed !

Good idea! But, I'm in Okinawa. Not the same as real Japan. I'm not Japanese, just a GI stationed here. One of the guys from the "American" forums suggested that I try and post here for some info on GT-B's since we never got them there.

As I mentioned in some other thread, I drive a BE5A, which is a sedan of same gen Legacy.
Sti did release some limited edition version of it, but its not what you have, however they maybe some parts installed. Look at your pedals, shiftknob, gauges, and tower bars under the hood. if previous owner installed any of those, thare most likely sti. I doubt he changed the IC or anything like that.
