Sucks, doesn't it? I just put my order in last week for my car, then I found out the homelink mirror was available. The dealer didn't know anything about it, but they checked and they can get it. Now they're trying to change my order, wish me luck. And good luck selling your mirror! (I may have one to sell soon too)

Auto Dim = @ night when there is bright light in the rear view mirror, it tints itself green, kind of like the tint at the top of the windshield, so that you don't get the bright lights in your eyes.

Homelink = kind of like a "garage door opener" for your house. You can preprogram certain lights and electronics to turn on with a push of the button from the car as you are driving up to the house. I think there needs to be some sort of reciever in the house to get the signal though...not sure if this is included or not...

Homelink is compatible with many different garage door openers and can "learn" codes, much like a programable universal remote for your home stereo. If your garage door opener isn't compatible, they sell a universal reciever to take care of that.

As far as the lighting modules go, they look IDENTICAL to X10 modules. I have a bunch of them laying around and I'll see if they are compatible when I get mine. Anyone else know if homelink will control X10 modules?

Well, I answered my own question. A quick google search, and sure enough, they're compatible! Wooo!!! If you don't have any X10 modules, they're cheap enough and are available under many different brand names, and you can get them at x10.com, smarthome.com, Fry's, Radioshack, and many other places (of course, homelink.com). Usually it's just the logo that changes, but the modules always look the same.

So, in order to get the Homelink equipped mirror, you have to give up the auto-dim/compass feature or can you order an auto-dim/compass/homelink equipped mirror?

i think the regular auto dim without the homelink is like 225 or so....the homelink will no doubt be more $....i have the regular auto dim w / no homelink. To be honest, if i didn't get it as a free option, there is no way i would have paid for it...way overpriced...IMHO

Here's the detail on the Homelink mirror:
P/N: H501SAG010
Retail: $239.95
Invoice (according to my dealer): $181.00

I got upgraded from the autodimming to the homelink for $50 more. Well worth it methinks.

From my experience with Subaru accessory parts, these things are a snap to install with rudimentary hand tools. Everything is pre-wired, it's just a matter of popping off the old and wiring up/installing the new.
