johnAWD
Where are you guys mounting your boost gauges? I'll soon have an 05 LGT in my hands, and a boost gauge is going to be the first mod. An A pillar mount would be my first preference, if the pod is right and the install can be very clean. Which electronis boost gauge(s) are a good match for the dash lighting at night? In the past I've always used westach mechanical gauges (due to my budget modding philosophy), but I'm going to make every attempt to have all the mods I do blend in with the car as much as possible. Thanks.
coxx
I got the VEI gauge mounted in the cubby so I can close it. The red is a good match. A bunch of guys got em in the group buy. leggtnut
I decided that I wanted the OEM gauge pack for the 06. I know that it is a bit spendy, but I love how it does the needle sweep just like the rest. I know that you can get it from http://www.cartersubaru.com in seattle for $620 over the internet. I can get the part number for you later. But I really like it and I have read that the install is very strate forward. When I take delivery of my LGT I will take pics and post them up for everyone to enjoy. donswhitegt
Anyone ever install the Subaru guage pack? and can provide a summary. I would imagine that the hook ups are behind the cubby already.
RacingFish
I hear that an A pillar woulnt be a good idea especially when your in a accident and it comes flying toward you because of the Side Curtain Airbag.
j0ebert
I think I am going to go with the MadDad Clarity series guage and AVO boost pod. I would like to hear some more reviews on the Clarity guage before going ahead with the purchase though. Anyone?
scans007
A-piller pod = bad (for above reason) 06 Pack = wicked $$$$ but SLIP Cubby = Great install, stealth, lots of effort Avo Pod = cheap and easy, pick your gauge. I went through all the options, I don't have my cubby cuz of my stereo install. That was the first place I wanted to do it. 2nd was on the dash with the AVO pod (attached) It sits so nice against the pillar....wires are super easy to run there also. Maximus
I got the Performance Gauge Pack.... it`s a STI option for LGT... check those pictures... It as a stock look and blends very nicely with the rest. Also the needle dances just like the other one... I keep restarting my car just to look at all the needles dance.... http://pages.infinit.net/massimod/LGT/mygauge1.JPG http://pages.infinit.net/massimod/LGT/mygauge2.JPG http://pages.infinit.net/massimod/LGT/mygauge3.JPG
j255c
nope, but once the gauge is turned on at night it doesn't match anymore, the little light inside the boost gauge is yellow tinted so it doesn't match the oem gauges. During the daytime it looks oem though. 06 TB EVO IX SE stock turbo monster subaru hater

j0ebert
I really like the Defi gauge, but someone is going to have to help me justify the $245 price tag as opposed to the MadDad tag of like $95. Am I missing something here, or do gauge prices vary dramatically for no particular reason?
NutBucket
Well, Defi is a Japanese company for one thing and very reputable. MadDad, while likely a good product, doesn't have the reputation. My analogy. Hyundai and Honda. Arguably Hyundai has greatly improved over the years but they cannot charge the premium Honda does because of Honda's excellent reputation. sandwood
cubby installs are actually quite easy, and any 52mm gauge will fit - with or without a custom bezel. 52mm lets you keep the cubby door and close it when you want. defi and autometer both make white gauges with red needles that more or less match our interior. ditto omori. getting out of the legacy game
johnAWD
I recall someone stating that they were using a Defi replica boost gauge from boostbuddy. Who was that, and are you pleased with the gauge? Is the brightness adjustable?
yamie700
I have the VEI boost and oil pressure gauges. They match the stock red very well, people have commented that they look factory. In the second pic I hadn't set the dimmer level yet so they look brighter than they really are. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a153/yamie700/LegacyGTcom%20stuff/Oil%20pressure%20gauge%20install/Gaugesonwflash.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a153/yamie700/LegacyGTcom%20stuff/Oil%20pressure%20gauge%20install/Gaugesonlightsonnoflash.jpg
caramall2
How accurate are the analog guages? Digital? Compared to say the Accessport readout? Where to you "plug in" the guage?
yamie700
My gauges seem very accurate, max boost shows 12-13psi in 4th and 5th pulls (my car is stock). Oil pressure seems accurate too compared to what others have seen. I chose digital so I can tell exactly where things are at with a quick glance. There is no set "plug in" for a boost gauge, you just make a T off of an existing line. I used the line going from the recirc valve on the intercooler but there are other places. It's really very easy.
johnAWD
Yes - measure needs to be referenced from an intake manifold source. Where else is there to measure manifold pressure? I added 2 extra nipples to the intake manifold on my last project car so there wouldn't be any sharing of the source for any device measuring pressure or vacuum.
