Might I ask, out of curiousity, why you want a stock shifter?

Art :?:

Actually the stock shifter is too tall for me so I want to drop it and I don't want to experiment or cut up my stock shifter.

You could just cut off the end and use a die to cut the threads down.. Not really anything to screw up, that is unless you want it to be higher again. Plenty of room to work without affecting functionality. Although the boot will be huge :)

Is it possible to trim the shift boot?

Anything is possible but I think he wanted the spare one so he could easily convert back to stock if needed. A trimmed boot would be kinda hard to revert!

That's right, it is hard to un-cut :)

Well a stock WRX shifter would accomplish what you want. Rahter than rigging a shifter by cutting it.

Someone posted that the stock WRX shift lever fits perfectly as long as you exchange the nylon sphere from the Legacy shift lever onto the WRX lever. Do a search in interiors.
