Do they block off the road at all to oncoming traffic? I have always wondered that. I don't think I will be in town. If you do the rain date, then I might be game. Thanks for the info!

I do not think they block the road. This will not be a drive where you push to the limits. Too Dangerous. any other questions fell free to ask or email the organizer at eric@wncrides.com

22 hours....I can get to Florida in 20!! I live in the Quad Cities, where I80 and I74 come together along the Mississippi. It would take me about 4-5 hours to get to the NW corner of Iowa, so not sure about the 5-6 hour difference. Maybe you took a different way. Anyway, have fun on the Dragon and be safe. A guy was killed(on a bike) the weekend I was there...scary!!! Oh and stay on your side of the yellow lines...scares the hell out of us bikers!! :-)

Hey NC2.5i,

So is there a group from the Triangle heading out and are we supposed to make overnight arrangements there or is it a same-day round-trip?

NC2.5i
01-27-2006, 10:24 PM
i believe it will be an overnight thing. I am not sure about a group from the triangle. There may be some guys from clubrsx in the triangle area going but i am not sure right now. I will not be in Raleigh at the time because it is spring break. there will be more details to come but you can email the event organizer at eric@wncrides.com for more info. he knows alot more than me about what is going on

Chris

No, it is a two lane (one each way) and they never block the road. I think there has only been one or two times they have and it was for movie stuff. This is a public road..highway actually. It can be very dangerous if you push your car/bike too hard. I know of people that have died up there (most of them on bikes). It is a lot of fun and I go up there a couple times a month since I live fairly close, but for those that do not know the road, it is fun, but as you will read in the site, the dragon does bite!!!!

I will be there!!!!!!!

For anyone staying over, you can contact the little hotel there at the end (carolina side) and reserve rooms that way. I think the site is www.tailofthedragon.com (http://www.tailofthedragon.com).

Recently renovated and now has a little place to eat with pretty good food. plus that is where everyone stops after their runs through the dragon so you will see some crazy stuff come through...oh yeah, the tree of shame is right there too :)

If you want to stay on the TN side...maryville isnt that far away in TN from the dragon.

I will be there..probably on the bike.

if the weekend is nice weather, killboy will be there taking pictures. He takes pictures and posts them on his site and you can purchase them on a disc. they are sorted by date. www.killboy.com (http://www.killboy.com/). He usually has a few different photographers at different parts of the Dragon.

I have some he took when I was on the zx9R a couple years ago just cruising through before I wore a lot of gear to go through it. (had on my draggin jeans, gloves, tennis shoes, padded jacket with armor, etc). Only thing i really wear different now is that I have better footwear that I ride in and a couple diff. jackets I flip flop between wearing.

here are two of the pictures I found that he took:

GraysonSubaru
03-12-2006, 07:48 PM
kind of sucked to be honest. not one LGT, a couple of wrx's, Z's, protege's, and a couple of other misc things. there was another group from NC there ..most of them in 2006 WRXs or STIs. Two 2002 models were also in that group. they were pretty cool. i snapped a few pictures, but very few of the group from here and the clubwrx that went because it wasnt all that exciting. I had a good time hanging out with darrel from killboy.com though. i will post some pictures tomorrow...
