Guys,
Rob and I are trying to co-ordinate an "en masse" arrival at the Vic WRX club Show n Shine but I'm not sure who's going to turn up? Thinking we meet somewhere nearby say around 10 o'clock and then arrive together.
If you're coming can you PM Rob (tinter) or me to let us know?
Thanks,
Darren

is there a pre-meet before and cruise down to south yarra?

Dark Watch - the idea was to meet on Rich Blvd and then cruise down together. Rob is arranging a 10:15 meet point - should make sure it's near a coffee shop!

Can i park my car at the oval even if i don't join the competition due to my late arrival ?

Hey Jasper, unsure to be honest, I think Rob would be the best one to ask that about otherwise just park it on the road next to the college ala where mine will be ...

I think the best point to group at 10.15am is on the Richmond Boulevard at the last car park near to MacRobertson's Bridge.

Just got the drum on the event at tonight's WRX Club meeting.
They're hiring a cherry picker for the group photo which should be about 1PM.
Personally I think it too late seeing we are going to have a show and burn event with 41C expected but they realise this and are going to speed things up a bit because of it.
70 cars are booked in for judging and that probably won't become more accurate till the day is on.
Parking is going to be arranged so that cars won't be jammed in and you can't get out early if you want to split. They are mindful of that too.

Damn this comp thing is getting tough and it hasnt even started yet lol.
41C you have to love that, but its better than 12 with passing showers I have to admit, I would say (Mr. Weather here) that it will be very overcast, windy and very sticky to say the least.
If I come, my main purpose is to meet you guys from here (hey its all about the love) and to have a bit of a look at our WRX friends.
Anyway boys.... might seeya there.
Ada///M.
PS Darren, curious will the baby seat be in or out ?????
dmcgowan
01-19-2006, 07:00 PM
Adam,
Do you have any idea how long it takes to get two baby seats in / out of the car (ok, about 10 minutes). I'll leave it locked and with the baby seats installed!!!!
Darren
Just for the record you can fit 2 child seats and a capsule into a WRX hatch....Been there done that.
dmcgowan
01-19-2006, 07:13 PM
Not the humongous baby seats we have - I hopped in the back of our car over Xmas to comfort our little girl (then 3 weeks old). My wife drove off as I realised I couldn't even fit sideways between the two seats - luckily it was only a 500m trip - my 3.5 year son thought it was all very funny!
Safe and sound Jupiter or something like that and a safe and sound capsule.

Try sleeping in the back of a GT wagon all night and being over 190cm tall.
Now that's not fun.

Yeah I just saw you driving up the road as I got around to the other side. I think Jeremy from STi was behind you as you drove up the road.
Fantastic turn out considering the heat and was surprised how STOCk looking a lot of the WRX's were.
Im sure we will catch up soon enough.
How did the STi go with the heat today ? and how did the tint preform ?

Despite the stinking hot weather, it was nice to meet up and be able to put a few friendly faces to their internet forum identities.
I have joined the WRX club today and look forward to the future Liberty clan cruise or may be even the Mt Baw Baw trip :) .

p/s- Congratulation, Darren.
Guys nice to put a face to the names......Just checked the John Bowe website for high performance dates and most seem to be during the week this year. This will be hard for me this year as my wife is going to Uni and I'm not sure whats her lecture days are yet.......I'm going to be droping off and picking up the kids from school on the days shes at uni so Winton on a monday is going to be a bit hard.......Having said that Calder is open for free practice on Wednesdays as long as your car is up to scratch and you have the required safety gear you pay your money $185.00 and away you go (Calder park is 5 minutes from my office) 9am to 4pm
Cheers Craig

Calder on Wednesdays sounds cool. I don't work on Wednesdays. What do you need to do to have your car up to scratch? Roll cage? Harness? Safety gear = helmet etc yup? How long does each session last?
agctr
01-22-2006, 03:54 PM
I think its more just a safety check over your car including yr RACE insurance being in place etc etc. Then gloves, suit, helmet and shoes I would say would be a a given.
Apologies I didnt catch up with you Craig and also Rob.....
Damn my lateness lol.

I kind of figured Craig deserves some kind of award for sticking those mufflers on the Spec B.
I'm hoping the prize was cash - managed to put a major scrape in the other rear wheel on the way home - man was I dehydrated after 3 hours in that sun.

Adam,
I think the 4 Liberty owners were just totally wrecked - it was seriously hot out there and I know I was feeling the pain all day. Only negative of the whole day was the fact that they left the photoshoot so late? Not a gripe for me 'cause the whole thing was so well run and organised but given it was 40 odd there were always going to be some pikers who couldn't take the heat - all the Liberty owners heh heh
Would have been nice to have had a few of the GTs all lined up but was good to meet Grant, Craig, Jasper all the same. One thing for sure - I won't be issuing any race track challenges to Craig anytime soon....

Nah it is not Cash, i saw the prize when they are calling you guys name.. its a pail with some megurie washing and polishing thingy...
As for someone who was asking why i dont put my car in for the show and shine, i cant be bother paying $90 for a club membership whcih i dont really use..
I myself can get cheaper parts from singapore, malaysia as well as Japan rather then to use the Club membership service..
Majority of the club members are WRXs and STi. i dont see a point paying a membership whcih they only focus "MORE" on WRXs rather then Liberty's.
If someone or you guys setup a Liberty club and Paid member, i will join without having a 2nd thought.
Cheers.
Just my 2 cents.

I've got 2 photos of cars from the meet but none of the owners. Sorry.
The second pic showed the giant bazooka of a STi muffler on Criag's RB. Love the noise.
The Tuned by STi here is not Darren's . 99/300 ? Forgot to ask who's the owner.
Had a brain fade in the heat and couldn't get enthused about photography at all despite lugging a heavy camera around.
