I would not mind hosting one at the beginning of next year. I would imagine that most of us have plans around the holiday season.

How many people would be interested? We could start up a list. I would not mind being thrown some weekend suggestions on days to host.

It looks like we may have to postpone this due to weather concerns. :icon_frow Many roads out here in the West County are closed already due to flooding and mudslides, and things are only going to get worse with Friday's storm moving in. The Russian River is supposed to reach flood stage by this afternoon, and if the winds kick up we'll also be looking at downed trees/powerlines by the time the weekend rolls around. Not a good time to be tearing up the backroads...

I just hit 950 miles in my first 6 days of ownership. Is that ok?

I guess it's almost broke in. :)

I know I am dring way too much but its work so it's paying for the car.

On top of that I took my time and really varried my speeds this week... got off of the freeway often and road around various random towns on my way to my destination which my nav helped me find. I've also been letting my car idle a while before turning off. Does anyoen around here use a turbo timer?

Excellent navigation system. Anyone looking for a review it is very intuitive and well put together.

I am hoping to find a software upgrade for the gauge package. While the Acceleration, Average Fuel Consumption, and current Fuel Consumpsion are nice to have I would much rather have Turbo Boost and Oil Temp. Let me know if anyone has heard of this being available for the nav screen computer.

OK so I have lots of questions... please help.

Does anyoen around here use a turbo timer?

From what I've read, Subaru has indicated turbo timers are no longer necessary because of advancments made in the turbo technology. Now, if you spend all day on the track... you might wanna let it cool off a little, but other than that I don't see a need for it.

Set your calendars for an epic driving event on May 13th.

It's going to start in Novato, and there will be two groups:

1. Touring and Tasting group - we will have a pleasant drive throughout the Napa Valley, occasional stops at wineries, a lunch break to refresh, and an enjoyable tour of Napa and Sonoma valleys ending between Santa Rosa and Windsor at a BBQ location.

2. Drivers Group - not for the faint of heart, the weak of stomach, or people who believe they are driving fast when they're @ or below the speed limit. :icon_twis

This will be an enjoyable quick-paced tour. There will be basic stops for fuel at predetermined locations, a short lunch break (read 30 minutes or less), and a LOT of backroads to be explored. The route itself is still being planned out for the least travelled roads in Northern California including Marin, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake Counties. This will be for those of you NOT concerned about expending a little fuel while having fun. Because of this, there will be NO STOPS FOR WINE TASTING!!

The drivers group will end at the same park for the BBQ, hopefully not too far ahead/behind of the touring group.

Anyone who is interested, please email me at: marin.subaru @ comcast . net (remove spaces, of course).

There will be a $4 (or maybe $5) parking fee at the park, and a $5/person for the BBQ, to help offset the costs.

BTW, this IS open to Subarus of different varieties. I'm catering to the Foresters (obviously by my name) and the Legacies.

now thats what i call a "meat"!

Well, this time it gets even better.

I have a friend who created a Guamanian style BBQ sauce (has won numerous awards), and he's agreed to come up here and BBQ for us. I'm supplying him with a few nights at the hotel where I work, and some gas money, and he's going to come on up and take care of the meet/meat.

I'm also looking around in my Subaru contacts to find a photographer who will be able to hide out on sections of the route, and take action photographs of you guys. If I secure one, we might have someone who can print up photos (enlarged) for a fee at the end of the day. Good way to get your car in a good action shot.

:) :)

BTW, anyone who is travelling from parts south (L.A. area Foresters are well represented by at least 4 coming), PLEASE let me know soon. I work at a hotel, and need to figure out how many rooms I need to reserve to get a group discount rate on the Friday/Saturday night there. Right now, I have 5 rooms reserved.

I may be joining you down there.
