Richard Burns, who won the World Rally Championship in 2001, has died at the age of 34 after a long illness, on the fourth anniversary of his title win.

Sorry to hear of the loss of another Rally driver/codriver this year.
As cheesy as it may seem, I hope he can continue to drive what he wants, the way he wants. Taken out in his prime.

Really awful! I have a friend who's battling a cancerous brain tumor right now...he's 24. There's just not much one can say for those cut down in their prime like this.

You own a WRB WRX and never heard of Richard Burns ?
I probably wouldn't have owned 3 subies if it wasn't for Richard bring the WRC to prime time TV in the UK when he was with Subaru.

Wow... its like a sword eater dieing of a foot infection (although this is a lot more seroius than that). I'm a little younger and only know about him from a few wrc shows and his rally sim on xbox. edit: i hope they have a great tribute to him in the next version of that game

Very sad to hear this news. Im sure I speak for the whole community of Subaru and the Rallying world, Richard you were a great asset to the world and thru yr passion for the sport, Im sure yr legacy will live on.

Wow. This guy turned me on to not only Rally racing, but also Subarus in general. Very sad day indeed. RIP. :icon_frow
