View Full Version : What happened to the signatures?

Where did the signatures go? I had one and changed it once, and then I went back to change it again only to not be able to find the signature settings. So then I turned my "attach signature" to "no" and now going back to "yes" doesn't turn it back on. It's not a big deal, but am I missing something?

There was a bug in it that allowed duplicate usernames and blank emails to register. When I have time I'll fix it but I had to turn it off for now.

ok, at least I'm not going looney. Well, I probably am, but not because of this.

Yep. Apparantly, if you had your sig set and didn't change it, it's still up there. But I think you will notice that you can no longer change what your signature says. If you ever have it not always attach your sig, it will be forever gone.

Just wait for Tide to fix it.

At least I got a sig! :P

The funny thing is that I don't remember what I was going to change it to.

Tide, when are you going to fix the signature feature? :D ... Also, I was wondering for like under the avatar, a "Drives: ***". I don't have a car but I'm sure some people would like to use that feature. Or maybe you don't have it to reduce clutter. Your call. Just want to hear what you think though.

I want the: car that you drive feature used. Shows how many true Legacy fans we got. :P

I basically want to wait for PHPBB2 2.2 to release and use that as a highly hacked, custom BB for this site. Its release is only (hopefully) a few months away (like our cars). When its out I will start on a new site, with more info, affiliates, chotchkies, etc.

We're willing to wait for quality, after all, most of us are waiting for the new Leg. :)

Yes, yes. I'm with SUBE555 on that. Can't wait!

Not for a while, I actually don't like them so I'm not that motivated to go bug hunting when a new software release will fix the issue. There is no timeframe (probably not this year) for moving to phpBB2.2.

Well, to be quite honest it does give the site a more professional look without signatures. I guess avatars are enough. Would be nice to have that "Drives:" feature though, so people don't have to keep asking which color or model Legacy someone got, if you know what I mean. :P

To me, sigs are fine as long as they're reasonable. Besides, most BB software gives viewers an option to hide sigs so if you don't want to see them they aren't forced on you. Make and enforce rules regarding sig size and everyone will be happy. My sig at 3si.org (over 4500 posts in 6+ years) has helped hundreds of people (links to basic info, mods, pics, etc). I know this by reviewing my webserver logs.

I joined the DSM club in 1992 so the internet car club thing is old hat to me. I've run message boards since the beta of Ultimate Bulliten Board (arguably the first of its kind). I am a server & network administrator so I know what it takes to support these things on the back end too (bandwidth, CPU power, etc).

I know I'm new here but I will soon have a Legacy GT (as soon as my Stealth TT sells) and I'm always willing to help out where I can. I have a couple of great php programmers on staff if you want custom options, plus from the admin side there's probably nothing that can come up that I haven't seen and dealt with in the past 12 years. I plan to donate cash to the site as well as host an offsite picture archive for legacysti members.

Oh yeah, and my Legacy will be un-stock within an hour of purchase :D

Personally, I think this forum is more difficult to browse WITHOUT signatures. With quite a few different models (27 different Legacy based models) it would be real nice to see what everyone's driving. Not to mention what other cars/trucks they have or have owned. Limit it to TEXT only and maybe limit it to 150 or 200 characters.

I also think it should be MANDATORY to list your location.....even if its just a state or country.

This is the only forum that I belong to that DOESN'T offer signature capability.

Lets fire the function back up. Maybe it needs a jump start?

Please no sigs. I hate looking at clutter over and over in every post. Maybe give the ability to edit the area under our handles but...BAN SIGS!!111

Well, I like them. Shows us what you own so I can validate wether or not the info you give out is based on speculation or firsthand ownership experience.

I'd also like to see a mandatory age of member listed in their profile.

I like sigs. I think there's a hack that lets members choose whether or not they want to see them. Or maybe a little javascript window that pops up when you click "signature".
