How do these compare with the Toyo Proxes 4 and the Pirelli PZero Nero? They compare well on Tirerack.com but I was interested it people's real life experiences with these tires.

I had nothing but great experience with them in both winter & summer.
The were 225/50-16 on my '92 Subaru SVX and they did very well. I run snow/summer tires on the legacy & wrx, but for the SVX, we chose to go with an all-season tire. They stopped and worked better in the snow that I ever thought possible from a high performance all-season tire.
The SVX is sold now, but my impression of the tires still remain... ;)
