G'day guys,
Here is the latest GT offering from Subaru Australia for 2006.

The changes are:-
2 brand new colours come into the range. They are called Urban Grey which is what this one is called and another version known as Violet Grey I haven't seen yet. (OB's get the same option.) Black interiors.

The centre wheel cap now incorporates the "Pleides" star emblem instead of the word "Subaru." Just like the photo our member in Italy sent over a few days ago.

And the auto tranny has no lock out button on the console anymore just like your USA ones.

Other than that, no other differences cosmetically...no sat nav, still has the McIntosh.

Have you got this colour over there?

PS. I'll get a further photo of it on Monday as I have to tint the glass and the roofs then.

Rob.

Thanks for the pic Rob, the colour looks great and is about the shade I hoped it would be. I can't wait to pick mine up now:D

Shame I didn't know of you when I ordered mine or I would have had you tint it, but hey they threw the 7 window tint in for free anyway (well if anything in this world is free!). If it ends up being a crap job you may be hearing from me.

No new colours in the US in 06!

At least I can do your hothouse sunroofs.

is the other grey darker than that? I really wanted a dark 'charcoal'-ish type grey.

No it appears to have a quite a purple tint to it - awful IMO.http://subaru.com.au/explore/liberty/exterior.asp?body=Sedan&grade=GT

G'day,

Rob.

They also get the 2.0 liter Twinscroll, around 260hp I think. New Zealand gets the same motor with a higher compression ratio and 280hp.

I have ordered a MY06 MT Wagon in urban grey! Pick which TWO options you guys don't get:mad::D

Our specs vary depending on tranny:
MT=255hp
AET=242hp

I kind of like that color, although I don't think I'd have the guts to buy it. It's good to see Subaru going out on a limb a little bit with colors.

I imagine that color would be particularly popular with a certain demographic that often gravitates towards Subarus.

Out of the topic/pics, but does anyone know why our cars are called Liberty instead of Legacy in the Asia/Pac parts of the globe?????

Just a little curious....

I put an explanation on that about a week ago. Do a search using "returned soldiers."

Are Australian models built in Japan?

Robdownunder

Yes fully imported from Japan throughout the entire range of vehicles for OZ.

I noticed the roof rails were silver instead of black, is that an '06 change too, or just in your market?

G'day Jase,
Those roof rails have always been silver irrespective of colour for the Aussie Legacys.
Goes perfectly with my Brilliant Silver GT.

Hey Rob, where are the 'after' pictures of the Urban Grey GT??

Robdownunder

Hi Scooter,
Sorry the photo is so crappy as Monday was such a dull, wet, rainy day and I just knew photos wouldn't do it justice but since you asked I only took the one.
I'll get Greg (owner) to take some for us on a better day and then you can see the roof tinted as well.
Rob.

Thanks Rob, by the way what % tint did you put in?

The car looks great - a rear step panel would be a good addition.

Robdownunder

G'day Scooter,

This film is the only product out there that perfectly compliments Subaru's OEM green glass. It is the state legal 35% light transmission.

I actually did buy a STI stainless steel rear step panel but it was designed for the narrower JDM rear bumper as it turns out which looked really odd on our much wider Aussie bar. Subaru took it back understandably after the problem was realised.

The black alternative rubber bar looks a bit over the top as it is really noticeable. Not for me.

Rob.

It will be interesting to see what the tint Subaru have put on looks like (it is 35% UV shield, but I'm not sure how it goes with the glass colour you are referring to). At least my sunroof will be the right colour:D

I got the rear step becuase 1: I actually like the obvious contrast it provides on the ugly oversize rear bumber and 2: I will be putting my golf gear and prams in and out the back a lot so it is also practical.

Do you know anyone who has connected an Ipod to the MacIntosh system, obviously the guys on here have a different setup. And where did you get the GT insig on the side of your GT (from the US??) - that looks sweet?

Scott

It is.
The GT is the very latest which is 99.9% unaltered.
Rob.

PS. Scooter, the bumper protector is a must in your case and the red "GT" badge is sourced from the Forester model of a few years back. Costs about $19 OZ.

Why does the US market get the giant shaft from Subaru? I wanted a dark gray, but instead had to settle for silver. And that silver roof rack is a nice touch. And your front bumpers. OMG. We get the nasty bulldog severe underbite front bumper.

I think either the Sti or RBS Aero front lip do wonders for the look. They make the front low/agressive enough to be decently attractive... I think it was a good investment... i have RBS aero lip...
