My glossy brochure states very clearly that you don't get dual zone digital climate control with the GT base model, but others here say they have it, and edmunds was a bit vague, but could be read to say the GT base has it as well.

Here is what my brochure states:

GT non-limited sedan/wagon:
"Manually adjustable CFC-free air conditioning system with rotary controls for temperature, 4-speed fan and airflow direction"

All limited models:
"Dual-zone automatic digital climate control system with controls for temperature, 6-speed fan, airflow direction, automatic mode and CFC-free air conditioning"

So perhaps you get rotary dual-zone controls on the GT, but no digital option ... that would be acceptable to us.

Can anyone clarify this for me?

Thanks,
Dhyana

I posted a response to this in the other thread, where you posed the same question.

Yes, it should have it, unless the manufacturer decides to change anything in the car.

The base GT also has the 'immobilzer' for the engine, which is also not listed as an option on the GT-non-ltd.

hope this helps.

I wasn't quite sure where. I'm sorry to ask it again. I couldn't remember if it was someone in the US or not and I just wanted to be sure.

If we can get the GT manual non-limited with a dual-zone option, and given Subaru's reliability and AWD and all, that just might tip the scales, because it would definitely be cheaper.

Thanks,

I used to own a neon, and then a stratus (5-spd.). I ordered a new stratus coupe, a few years ago, and it turned out to be a lemon (bad MITSU Trannies!). Then, I saw the WRX...and not knowing much about it, other than the power potential, I bought a wagon (of course, I ordered a silver one, and the stupid dealer sold it, and found me a comparable WRB version..another long story).

However, having had the WRX here in the NE (NY to be exact), I have learned that all-wheel-drive can be a tricky thing, especially if someone is not accustomed to it. In the early stages of the vehicle experience, I spun out (on the stock tires - ala RE92!). I changed the tires, and summertime rolled around...and boy, what a difference. I felt like I was driving a new car...and lemme tell ya, the AC's in these cars is phenomenal. In humid/high heat conditions, they work REALLY well...and the WRX did not have the 'climate control' feature.

The new legacy, I am sure, will be a great car to drive...if it's anything near as good as the WRX was, when I first learned the system of AWD!

Good luck on your decision...

Don't talk to me about bad Mitsu trannies! I know all about it. I will never buy another mitsubishi - primarily because of repair costs (you can't buy the cheap part you need because they only sell the bigger component for 10 times more!). But that is ancient history ...

I probably won't make a buying decision until fall or early winter.

Slightly OT..
I ordered a new stratus coupe, a few years ago, and it turned out to be a lemon (bad MITSU Trannies!).

Hate to break it to you, but that was likely a Chrysler trannie in that car. I think Chrysler pretty much forces Mitsubishi to use Chrysler components in their US built cars (Normal, IL I believe). Anyone remember the 2nd gen Eclipses with crank walk? Happened when Chrysler got their hands on the engine and began assembling it here in the US with components sourced by Chrysler.

It amazes me how a company like Chrysler can get away with building components with a lengthy history of failure.

Dyhana,

I too am interested in this misprint in the brochure. There are a few on here that have plain GT's WITH the Climate control. I also wasn't sure if they were US models.

I'm not the biggest fan of Leather, but DO like power seats, and my GF (thats who's actually going to purchase this car) has a sunroof on her list of MUST haves.

So, I believe that the Limited is the way were going to go. Makes you wonder though why we cant option them out the way we want to. I mean they have all these other nickle and dime cheezy options (goofy shift knobs, aluminum pedals, etc) yet leave a BIG gap between the GT and GT Limited in terms of option availability.

If I'm not mistaken all Legacy GT's have the dual climate control Limited or base.

eamiller,

It was defintely a mitsu tranny...as I saw the tags three times, not to mention the tranny was on national back order, the first year the car came out (2001 Stratus R/T Coupe). Also was a mitsu engine (labelled, again)...just a dodge shell.

Anyway,
got out of that, and into the WRX, and have been here for 3 years +.

If I'm not mistaken all Legacy GT's have the dual climate control Limited or base.

Per the salesman at my Subie Dealer, all Legacy GTs are equipped with dual zone climate control regardless of weather they are base GT or GT LTD. I have also personally seen base GTs at the dealer -- all equipped with the dual zone climate control.

It seems the confusion is brought on by the unfortunate misprint in the Legacy brochure. Either that or this is a cheap ploy on the part of Subaru to influence buyers into selecting the LTD package. I don't subscribe to this conspiracy theory. I think this is just a misprint. :|

I actually think I would prefer single zone climate instead of having to manually set the temperature for L and R separately when I would be driving alone (majority of the time).
