Thats a pretty slick resource. It looks like a work in progress. Would love to know pricing and options.

The current model GT (5 speed) lists at $25,645 msrp. Factor in the engine upgrade and a few other goodies and my guess is around $29,000. Take the Forester for example, you pay $1,825 extra for the Turbo motor. Of course the Legacy is a total re-work but I still think Subaru will want to keep it within range of current Legacy owners who want to upgrade.

I wish the Need-desire.com website would show pictures of the USDM legacy consistently instead of showing Euro and JDM versions. It's all very confusing when I am trying to see exactly what the US market will recieve.

On Need-desire.com look at the pics of the Detriot Auto Show thats the USDM one. Or research pics from the LA Auto Show it was there.

In a word: NO. Don't add $1825 to the GT price. The current GT is ridiculously overpriced. Add a MAXIMUM of 3%. Nowhere in the world has the new GT been priced higher than 3% over the old GT. I don't know why everyone feels okay paying close to $30,000 for this car. Let's not give SOA ideas. I'm sure they are conscientiously trying to keep the price point close. I'm sure a loaded GT will end up retailing for something close to your $29,000 figure, but the base GT will start closer to $26,000. SOA would be insane to do anything else, and Subaru worldwide has kept a firm line on pricing.

Subaru is on the record as having said that the price hike will be no more than 3% over old models.

Pricing outline, schmising outline. Subaru is on the record as saying prices won't increase more than 3% over current Legacy models. I presume that they know what they're talking about. Worldwide, to date, there hasn't been more than a 3% hike in the Legacy price, GT or otherwise.

Do you know differently?

No, it just explains and coorelates models in the most visual way possible. 3-5% max, depending how they feel that day. In that range, any way you cut it, it should be good. Only reason I mention up to 5% is because to stay 'above' the FXT Premium pack, it might take that big of a jump for the GT Ltd Sedan, or perhaps just the Wagon would sit that high.

Any way we cut it, should make the WRX look like chicken scraps. :D

So the GT Limited is still slated to be only an auto?

Cheers

Not that I know of. That was also only for 1998. 1999 and newer you could get it with either.

Just as a matter of interest, the Liberty GT Premium (ie luxury) price in Australia is LESS than the Liberty B4 it replaced.

It's $55,000 AUD (on today's rates that's $41800 USD - what have you guys got to complain about?).

Do you think that part of this is the recent rise in the value of your dollar?
